Frieda Bertsch, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 15, 2013. She was a resident of the St. Luke's Elmore Long Term Care Unit. Frieda was born July 23, 1919, in Adelaide, Idaho, the daughter of Henry and Katherine Maier Schnabel. She never knew her father as he passed away in the flu epidemic in 1918, when her mother was pregnant with her. She grew up in Paul, Idaho...

Dear editor: I was doing some late spring cleaning and came across this enclosed letter by Sandy Pitts dated 1989. The heading said "Bradbury's diatribes are really getting to be old news." She said, "Could someone please give this man a full-time job so that be would have less free time to research historical quotes which are ill-suited to support his specious syllogisms? She goes on to criticize him more. I hope she is still in Mountain Horne to read my letter...

An Oregon family escaped injury after their motor home caught fire at the local Wal-Mart on Monday. Allen and Tonyta Sare were traveling with their two teenage children and the family's dog when they pulled into the store's parking lot around noon. According to information gathered at the scene, the family had just fueled their vehicle and were leaving the service station at the local retailer when the Winnebago backfired. ...

The Elmore County Fair is now underway, with the carnival opening tonight.
