Frieda Bertsch

Frieda Bertsch, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 15, 2013.

She was a resident of the St. Luke's Elmore Long Term Care Unit.

Frieda was born July 23, 1919, in Adelaide, Idaho, the daughter of Henry and Katherine Maier Schnabel. She never knew her father as he passed away in the flu epidemic in 1918, when her mother was pregnant with her. She grew up in Paul, Idaho.

She met Alvin "Blondie" Bertsch and they were married on July 17, 1938. To this union were born three children.

She is survived by: her three daughters, JoAnn and her husband, Jay Sumrow, of Santa Maria, Calif., Marlene and her husband, Sid Smith, of McMinnville, Ore., and Debbie Peterman of Mountain Home; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; former son-in-law Kenneth Davis; a half sister, Viola McCarty, and a step-sister, Elsie Fox.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, her parents, three brothers, five sisters, four step-sisters and two son in-laws.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 22, with a viewing from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Paul Congregational Church, 121 N. Second West, in Paul. Pastor Brandon Wallace will officiate and burial will follow at the Paul Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Memorials may be made to the Paul Congregational Church.

The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Luke's Elmore LTCU and Dr. Koelsch for their compassion and care the last few years. In addition, thanks to Legacy Hospice for their care.
