Charles Mellen

Charles R. Mellen, 69, of Boise, passed away July 15, 2013, as a result of complications from surgery, while surrounded by loved ones.

Services will be held Friday, July 19, with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. and funeral services at 11 a.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Charles was born July 26, 1943, in Boise, to Thomas H. Mellen and Norma E. Gaines.

He attended Mountain Home High School and graduated in 1962. He later attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D., on a wrestling scholarship. Charles later enrolled in Idaho State University in Pocatello, where he was a charter member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

In 1978, he founded Mellen Construction, Inc., a highly-regarded contracting company in the Treasure Valley.

In his free time, Charles loved spending time with his family, jet boating, riding Harleys, hunting and fishing.

He was also a member of the Elks.

Charles is survived by wife Mary Mellen, son Joseph and his wife, Andrea Mellen, daughter Angela and her husband, Jeremy Johnson, stepson Josh Isaac, grandchildren Riley, Cyndell, Mara, Jacob and Aiden, brother Jon, sister Carol Ann and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, mother Norma, sister Norma E. Staton, and brother Thomas Mellen.
