The Oregon family of four escaped the fire without injury.

An Oregon family escaped injury after their motor home caught fire at the local Wal-Mart on Monday.

Allen and Tonyta Sare were traveling with their two teenage children and the family's dog when they pulled into the store's parking lot around noon.

According to information gathered at the scene, the family had just fueled their vehicle and were leaving the service station at the local retailer when the Winnebago backfired. It sparked a fire that began in the engine compartment and spread to the forward section of the motor home.

Smoke had already engulfed the vehicle by the time firefighters arrived on scene. It took less than 10 minutes for crews to extinguish the flames.

The family was able to recover many of their personal possessions located in the rear of the vehicle. The city fire department used money from its burnout fund to provide the family temporary lodging at a local hotel as they worked with their insurance company to get a replacement vehicle.
