After school, during four Thursdays in May, a dozen Hacker sixth-grade students signed up to explore their options for health care careers. The Mountain Home School District, Elmore Medical Center, the Mountain Home Public Library, the Elmore County 4-H, John Goodrich, DDS, and his staff, and Nathan Price, OD, were just a few of the community partners working together to offer the "Orientation to Health Care Careers" series for the students...

The Mountain Home Tiger track team participated in the District III 4A track meet at Skyview last week with the girls coming in second and the boys seventh. Mountain Home will be sending 10 girls in 12 events to state this week, and five boys in six events...

The Mountain Home Tigers failed to qualify anyone on to state this week at the district tennis tourney over the weekend, but did place in three events. In girls singles, Carolyn Bailey ended up in sixth place. After losing in the first round, she went to the consolation bracket where she won her first match by forfeit, and won her next two matches to place her in the Saturday playoffs...

Stuart Alan Ivey, of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 16, 2010. Stuart and his wife, Mary, have lived in Mountain Home for the past 32 years. A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 20, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Mr. Ivey was interred to rest at the Mountain View Cemetery with military honors, provided by the American Legion Post #26...

Patricia J. "Patty" Smith, 76 of Mountain Home, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at a local hospital, after a long bout with emphysema. At her request, no services will be held. A private inurnment will be held at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery, in Boise, where she will be place with her husband, James C. Smith. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel...

Alfonso "Fonz" Garza, 44, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Mountain Home, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 10, 2010. He was born in American Falls, Idaho, on Nov. 3, 1965, to Alejandro and Guadalupe L. Garza. He received his education in Mountain Home, Idaho, and graduated in 1984. A year later he enlisted in the US Air Force...
