UPDATE: Winter advisory issued

Drivers in southern Idaho are urged to exercise caution as a winter storm continued to blanket southern Idaho Wednesday morning. Multiple slideoffs and rollovers were reported on the interstate between Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry that morning. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm advisory this week that calls for heavy snow in Oregon and Idaho as Thanksgiving travelers hit the highways. A winter storm watch remains in effect from through the morning of Thursday, Nov. 26. A cold storm from the Gulf of Alaska was moving south through Oregon as of press time and was expected to move east across northern Nevada with snow expected to spread across southeast Oregon. ...

Salute to Broadway show featured gifted musicians

What an incredible performance by so many talented singers, dancers and pianists on Nov. 10 for the Broadway Salute to Veterans! As the pictures in last week's paper showed, the performers were enthusiastic and spirited. The Arts Council loves to support local talent and showcase these incredible gifts. I have been fortunate to have produced about ten of these variety shows over the years, and I am always overwhelmed by the level of talent in our community...

Dear editor, Having family move to Mountain Home in the past years, we come to visit them often and have been very impressed with your hometown values. Last year, we took part in your Halloween and had a blast. We returned this year also to enjoy the spirit of Halloween going door to door and seeing a great variety of costumes on the young and old who were enjoying the evening... I was dress as a wizard and was well received...

Viola Bucholtz

Viola Helen "Vi" Bucholtz, age 83 of Mountain Home and formerly of Pine, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, her family was by her side. Per her request, no formal services will be held. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.
