Due to icy road conditions school will be delayed in the Mountain Home School District today. School will not begin until 10 a.m. Buses will be delayed accordingly. Morning kindergarten and pre-school has been canceled.

Dear editor: Racism is contagious. Even Obama is using it now to alibi his failed presidency, and here's a guy who got elected TWICE by a "racist America." To oppose someone because of skin color is most definitely bigoted, but to elect someone for the same reason?...

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Knudson of Mountain Home will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb.1, 2014. Ted and Ruth Knudson were married in Moorhead, Minn., in 1964. They both grew up and graduated from high schools in New Rockford, N.D. They had four children, Jay, Natalie, Jon and Kristin...

The state of Idaho is moving to try and acquire some long-term water rights for Mountain Home Air Force Base. Led by Gary Spackman, head of the Idaho Department of Water Resources, the effort involves $4 million in Gov. Butch Otter's budget to acquire some priority senior surface water rights (from 1963 and 1965), that would be "banked" until the base needs them -- about three decades from now...

The number of people arrested for driving under the influence in Mountain Home and Elmore County continued a steady decline over the past year. According to information released by local and state law enforcement agencies last week, 135 people were arrested for driving under the influence in 2013...

Edward Elmer Trappe, 66, of Astor, Fla., passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014. Born in Mason City, Iowa, he moved to Astor from Lake Park, Ga., in 1998.
