Edward Elmer Trappe, 66, of Astor, Fla., passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.

Born in Mason City, Iowa, he moved to Astor from Lake Park, Ga., in 1998. He was a summer resident of Mountain Home since 2005.

He was a retired senior master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War and operation Desert Storm.

He was a member of the Astor Community Association, Astor-Astor Park Cemetery Association, VFW Post 9986, Astor, and the Astor Water Board.

He is survived by: his wife, Kathleen "Kathy" Trappe, Astor, Fla.; daughter Lori (James) Manns, Las Cruces, N.M.; father Elmer Trappe, Manly, Iowa; brothers Roger (Candy) Trappe, Albert Lea, Minn., Dennis (Ellen) Trappe, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Vic (Mary) Trappe, Carmel, Ind., Tom (Becky) Trappe, Mason City, Iowa; sisters Linda (Tim) Schreiber, St. Cloud, Minn., Patricia (Don) Waters, Oelwein, Iowa; grandson Tyler Johnson, Las Cruces, N.M., and granddaughter Amber Johnson, Raleigh, N.C.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the First Baptist Church of Astor with Rev. Terry Holland officiating. Inurnment will follow at Astor-Astor Park Cemetery with military honors.
