Mr. and Mrs. Ted Knudson of Mountain Home will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb.1, 2014.

Ted and Ruth Knudson were married in Moorhead, Minn., in 1964.

They both grew up and graduated from high schools in New Rockford, N.D.

They had four children, Jay, Natalie, Jon and Kristin.

They moved to Mountain Home in 1966 when Ted received a job offer as the barber at the NCO club on Mountain Home Air Force base. Ted worked as a barber for 14 years.

He was then hired to work for the Elmore County Juvenile probation office until he retired in 2006 after 25 years of service.

The couple also owned Vans Insulation for many years. Ruth did the books and Ted insulated in the evenings and on the weekends.

Ruth stayed at home when her children were young. Once their children were older, Ruth worked as a secretary at Mclaughlin Law office, at Pioneer Federal Credit Union, and 13 years for the State of Idaho at the Health Department, where she retired in 2005.

They both have volunteered at their church, Our Lady of Good Counsel, and in their community.

They are now enjoying their years of hard work by spending time with their children, grandchildren, friends, and family. Their children noted that they are "very proud" of their parents' volunteer work and commitment to family and God.
