The Mountain Home Tigers track squad competed at the Vallivue Invitational Friday at Vallivue High School. The meet is a relay type of event where teams enter four people in each event and the efforts of the top three determine where a team places in each event...

Dear editor: The letter written by Paula Barnard from Lowman is about the most mean-spirited letter I have every read, even during a political cycle. Well, there are two sides to every story. I have known Marla and Fred for some time and I completely disagree with Ms. Barnard. Marla is a very educated person, not only formally but in the best way possible. She is educated in "Common Sense," something sorely lacking in many of our current politicians...

Dear editor: Spring has come to Southern Idaho, the grass is greening, trees are budding and blooming and the wing has increased its intensity. Election season has also arrived. As evidenced by the sudden appearance of political placards. Overnight these announcements appear along our roadsides and at busy intersection. Only the candidates name and the office they seek can be learned from these announcements...

Dear editor: I believe that the Mountain Home School District board of trustees should look at the following proposal: Eliminate the physical education classes during normal school hours, 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., and replace it with a mandatory varied schedule of physical activity from 3:15-5:15 p.m. each day. This would be conducted outside and supervised by the existing physical education teacher with the help of volunteers and seniors...
