Letter to the Editor

Anti-Lawson letter was mean spirited

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Dear editor:

The letter written by Paula Barnard from Lowman is about the most mean-spirited letter I have every read, even during a political cycle.

Well, there are two sides to every story. I have known Marla and Fred for some time and I completely disagree with Ms. Barnard. Marla is a very educated person, not only formally but in the best way possible. She is educated in "Common Sense," something sorely lacking in many of our current politicians.

What Ms. Barnard finds reckless and irresponsible is to others the right thing to do. Ms Barnard knows she has blown the elk incident way out of proportions. Marla did shoot the elk with rubber bullets given to her by the Fish and Game people. Had Ms. Barnard fed the elk in the proper place to start with the incident would never have taken place. Marla's concern was for the elk and residents is commendable. Ninety-nine percent of all the charges mentioned by Ms. Barnard stemmed from two incidents. In both cases, Marla was concerned for the animals involved. There are always over-zealous people in all departments. Especially in our government. That is exactly what happened here. They can cause things to get out of hand. Ms. Barnard also knows that almost all charges were dropped prior to coming to court.

During my investigations I have spoken with some people in the Lowman area and they were unanimous about Ms. Barnard. I'll let you draw your own conclusions. I do not want to call Ms. Barnard any names or cast any bad light on her. I'm sure she thinks she is right and she most certainly has a right to her opinion. Marla would be the first one to fight for Ms. Barnard's rights. Marla has only one desire. She wants to fight for and represent all the people of District #22 including Ms. Barnard.

Marla's and Fred's divorces were also brought up. I don't know why. That is private business between husband and wife. I think that should be left alone. I don't think Ms. Barnard would like her private life brought up in any circumstances. Enough said.

The interview Ms. Barnard spoke of kind of baffles me. I don't understand her point. Many politicians give interviews via written questions.

Marla and Fred Lawson do not disregard any laws. They are, however, human and get frustrated by some of our laws, which causes them to question things. I guess that makes them human and just like the rest of us.

I would like to have someone just like that representing me in our state senate. Marla is a true conservative. She believes in the American Constitution. She is for lower taxes, less government and a better environment for business in Idaho.

That has got to make her the right choice for this job.

She wants better education through more local control.

Marla is a mother and a grandmother so she understands the need for better schools.

Marla does not want this job for personal gain. She has a deep-rooted desire to make Idaho and especially District #22 a better place for people to live. She wants the people of Idaho to have say so over Idaho.

I could go on but I think by now you all have the picture.

Marla Lawson should be our next District #22 senator. She is well qualified for this job. Don't take my word for it. Go to her website (Marlalawson.com) or call her, she will be more than happy to talk with anyone about any of these incidents.
