Mountain Home hosts golf tourneys

Mountain Home hosted a couple of high school golf tournaments in the last couple of weeks.

The Tiger boys golf team hosted the annual Mountain Home Invitational on April 15 at Desert Canyon Golf Course. Bishop Kelly won the event, shooting a 308 team total over the 18 holes. Middleton followed with a 320, Columbia was third at 331, Mountain Home fourth at 350, Nampa fifth at 372, Skyview sixth with 374 and Emmett seventh at 375.

Stephen Elliott and Clint Butori paced the Tigers, both shooting 87. Brent Sexauer and Zach Pomerantz each carded an 88 and David Rhodes shot a 90.

Centennial won the JV tournament, shooting a 332. Mountain Home's JV came in 11th with a 420 score. There were 14 teams competing in the JV tourney.

Jeff Land led the Mountain Home JV team, shooting an 84. Doug Zielnicki came in with a 92, Mike Parkinson shot 99, Colton Zamora 103 and Matt Houston, 112.

Mountain Home hosted a boys and girls conference tourney on April 20 at Desert Canyon Golf Course.

Middleton won the girls competition, shooting a 197 team total. Mountain Home was second with a 220 score and Columbia came in with 247 score. Nampa lacked a full team at the Mountain Home event.

Alicen Wendall led Mountain Home with a 50 which tied her for third. Kelsey Egusquiza finished fifth with a 51, Shelby Stevens came in with a 55 and Melanie Bate shot a 64.

In the varsity boys tourney, Middleton also won, shooting a 169 team total, two shots better than Columbia. Mountain Home finished third with a 181 total and Kuna came in with a 198.

David Rhodes shot a 43 to lead Mountain Home. That tied him for fourth overall. Zach Pomerantz came in with a 45, Stephen Elliott carded a 46 and Brent Sexauer and Clint Butori both shot a 47.

Columbia won the JV boys competition, shooting a 187 total. Middleton came in with a 193, Mountain Home shot a 210 and Nampa 220.

Jeff land led the Mountain Home JV team with a 49, Ron Hurley and Tyler Senger both carded a 53, Matt Houston came in with a 55 and Sterling Crain shot a 61.
