The 45th Annual Air Force Appreciation Day kicks off this weekend with a free barbecue, the state's largest parade, free entertainment and activities for both young and old. The event, organized by the Chamber's Air Force Appreciation Day Committee, is annually the largest event held in Elmore County, drawing crowds usually estimated to be in the 10,000-person range...

Crime reports issued by the State of Idaho show that Elmore County and Mountain Home law enforcement managed to stay even with population growth over the last year, with the number of crimes reported staying essentially the same as the year before, and a slight increase in the number of arrests made...

Jo Annette Goins, 70, of Mountain Home, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at a Boise hospital. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the VFW Hall in Glenns Ferry. Burial will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise...

Hampton A. Singleton, 77, of Mountain Home, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at a Boise nursing home. No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cremation Society of Idaho.

Robin Marie Larson, 47, died Sunday, Aug.28, 2005, at her home in Mountain Home. Memorial services were held Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Faith Lutheran Church in Mountain Home. A service will also be held in California on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 11:00am at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. Dorothy K. Myers, 91, of Mesquite, Nev., formerly of Mountain Home, died, Aug. 29, 2005. Services will be private. Her ashes will be scattered at Deadwood Reservoir. She was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Boise, and moved to Boulder City, Nev., in 1932. She traveled the world with her husband, Ernest Meyers, following his construction career, which included building Dwvorshak Dam near Kooskia...

Jeremiah "Jerry" Gingerich, 94, of Bruneau, died Sept. 3, 2005, at the home of his son, Verlin, and daughter-in-law, Ella, also of Bruneau. A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at the American Legion Hall in Bruneau. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home...

All things considered, Mountain Home Tiger cross country coach Doug Root was pleased with his team's effort at its first meet of the season last Thursday at Caldwell. "The kids ran pretty well. It was a much larger meet than I thought it would be. There were 19 teams there, including all of the 4A and 5A schools from the valley...
