The Mountain Home Lady Tigers battled hard against Emmett last week before losing in four to the Lady Huskies.

Dani Dean had nine kills, Erica Stanton had five, Brandie Riggs had eight assists, and Sammy Dodge had 10 service points.

"It was a good match." said Lady Tiger volleyball coach Sarah DeVore.

"The girls were in there all four games. That fourth game, we came back from being behind to actually make a game of it, thanks to Kaleena Bluemer's clutch serves there at the end, (but) we just couldn't muster up enough points.

"They did well and it was an emotional loss, because they fought hard, and that's what we like to see. They showed some fight, and I think we had Emmett scared a little bit there."

A slow start in game one hurt the Lady Tigers last Thursday night at Skyview, as they fell in three to the Lady Hawks.

"We started out real sluggish," said Coach DeVore of the Skyview match. "I think when we start believing we can beat some teams, then we'll see a different attitude out on the court.

"That was certainly the case with that first game, 3-25. They kept serving it at us and we didn't do anything with it. The second and third games we started to improve on our play, and we were up six or seven to one and had Skyview calling the time out, so they're starting to get some confidence.

"Skyview is a competent team, with starters back from going to state last year. Hopefully, next time we play them we're showing them a different team out there."

Kaleena Bluemer had five kills against Skyview, Dani Dean had four kills and four digs. Brandie Riggs had five assists.

The Lady Tigers hosted Bishop Kelly last (Tuesday) night and travel to Twin Falls on Saturday for the Twin Falls Invitational.

Coach DeVore is looking forward to the Twin Falls tourney.

"That will be a great chance to really get some momentum going, and allow girls to play a lot more and get some playing time under their belt right now to just get comfortable on the court, and the season is quick, so we don't have a lot of time to adjust, so we need the time to get ready and set to go."
