I love her and I haven't even met her.

Posted Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at 10:38 PM

My sister is due to have my family's first grandbaby, niece or nephew in a little under a month, on Jan. 15.

I am way excited to become an uncle and I've already decided what Ryann Leigh is getting for every birthday for the first 18 years of her life. I plan to spoil her to the point my sister no longer likes me.

I've also asked my sister if Ryann Leigh can come stay with me over the summers once she starts school, my sister told me to wait until she's actually in school (and born) to have that conversation.

I am in Peru at the moment and yesterday saw the coolest gift for Ryann Leigh, however, she's not going to need it in Hawaii so I couldn't get it. But it got me thinking about my soon-to-be niece and how it's possible to love someone who've never met, or who's never been born.

I can only imagine how much my sister, and her husband Nick, love Ryann Leigh. My love for her must only be a fraction of how my sister feels towards her.

OMG that is the sweetest thing I've ever read! I'm a first time grandmother and I never imagined that I could love anybody as much as my children! I call my daughter at least once a day to see if my 16 month old grandaughter wants to talk to her ma-maw and my daughter says, "Hi mom, remember me??" I say, "yea, yea, put my grandbaby on the phone..."

My daughter knows I love her more'n my luggage...

sas212, I've been a Grandma for almost 4 years now, and though I didn't expect so soon, I knew right off how much I could love those kids.... 4 of them now. I was there during their entry into the world, which is nothing short of a miracle, and that really isn't a good enough word for it.

Robert, You make me proud to hear you speak (type) There is nothing more manly than a man that openly loves a child. Spoil her, she will deserve it! Or as my Dad says, "It's not spoiling when they deserve it" Wait til she wraps her little fingers around yours.... you'll melt.

The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
