Blues in schools

The Boise Blues Society came to town on Jan. 17 to provide students at East and North Elementary schools with the opportunity to hear a concert and learn about the American form of music. The society’s “Blues in Schools” program works with schools throughout the Treasure Valley to teach students about the history of blues music and how its has influenced future generations of musicians, the instruments played and to provide them the chance to hear music they may not come across in their daily lives.. ...

Elk’s Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest

Elks Lodge #2276 was well represented at the District Hoop Shoot Competition on the weekend of Jan. 19 with all of the children doing their best. Nakiyla Percell was in a shoot out for first place and a chance to move onto the state competition in the 10 to 11 year old age group after shooting 17 of 25 and then three of five before finishing in second place. ...
