More than 500 people turned out last Thursday for a "Sneak Preview" of the newly-remodeled Mountain Home Public Library. "I can't believe it's the same building," said local resident Maggie Fletcher. Fletcher, a retired schoolteacher and volunteer storyteller at the library, also said there was no comparing the new library to the old one...

The pilot of a single-engine light aircraft that crashed Saturday on the ice at Anderson Ranch Reservoir was able to walk away from the incident with no serious injuries. LeRoy "Lee" Joseph Dachlet, 69, of Mountain Home, died Dec. 30, 2005, in a Boise hospital. A private service already has been held. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Lee was born March 15, 1936, the son of Joseph and Ester Dachlet. He was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisc., and attended Catholic grade school and high school. He excelled in football and joined the United States Air Force in September of 1956...

Mary G. Shore-Hooker, 89 of McCall, formerly of Mountain Home, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on April 16, 1916, to William L. Baker and Mabel C. Jordan. They moved to Idaho, when Mary was four years old, and she graduated from Boise High School...

Mary Budge Sayer, 60, of Leslie, Idaho, formerly of Mountain Home, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 in Arco, Idaho, after a 9-month battle with thyroid cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones. The Mountain Home Tigers finished fourth at the Madison Invitational Wrestling Tournament at Rexburg over the weekend. North Fremont won the varsity competition, scoring 194 points.
