Welcome Singapore familiesPosted Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 11:16 AM
The community of Mountain Home welcomes the families of the Republic of Singapore Air Force to Idaho.
We'll try not to make the culture shock too great for you. We strongly urge all of the citizens of this area to do whatever they can to make these families welcome and comfortable in our community. There should be little problem with the language barrier, since the official language of the economically thriving democracy of Singapore is English. But there are a lot of differences between living near the equator in southeast Asia and living in Idaho (as those who arrived in January discovered). So help them learn about the wonderful place that is Idaho and Elmore County. These are Singapore's very best, so we need to reciprocate with our very best. Let's make them feel like they've found a new home, one they will remember fondly forever. -- Kelly Everitt |
