An idea for our officials

Posted Friday, December 21, 2007, at 10:21 AM

We're beginning to wonder if China has quietly declared war on the United States.

After all, nearly 100 million product items have had to be removed from the shelves of American businesses this year alone because the goods being sold, made in China, posed health hazards to both children and adults (and our cat and dog pets).

Let's ignore for a minute the increasingly disturbing trend of American companies to "outsource" and buy items overseas, instead of supporting Americans and American companies.

The Chinese have clearly been threatening American health, safety and welfare.

But there may be a lesson there to be learned.

Here, in the United States, when something like that happens, we hold Congressional hearings and politicians thump their breasts in outrage. And little actually ever gets fixed.

In China, they executed the head of their equivalent of the Food and Drug Administration.

Hmm. Maybe they've got something there. Sure would make our own bureaucracy a little more careful and responsive, wouldn't it?

We need to take Personal Responsibility? China did not do this too us, We did this to Ourselfs.

We don't have Free Markets anymore, We have fixed Markets and alot of people in Prisons. lets not blame China. China is using its Fixed Market of Slave labor to screw up our Fixed Market of MinWage workers (Our Slave Labor).

We complain about China/Drugs, that should tell people we have the wrong policy.

Right on point, Kelly. I now take the time to check for two things immediately on any potential purchase. One, does it contain trans fat, and two, was it made in China.

An affirmative to either goes back on the shelf.
