I heard today that 14 states are trying to make it a law to carry on campus without fear of arrest. Two states have introdcued laws to make it a crime to carry on campus.

Guns don't kill, its the fools who own them, Cars don't kill, its the fools who drive them, knives don't kill, its the fools who use them and etc etc

Until you have had a family member killed by a weapon you will never understand the impact it has on the whole family........

Any type of death has an impact on families. No one will discount the fact that it horrifying when a crime is committed or children are involved.

It is the sorrow that we feel when something could have been prevented that cuts us so deep. But people make bad choices and we get caught in the cross-fire.

We had guns around our house growing up and it was clearly understood that we were not to touch them. In this day and age, youngsters see gun play on TV and have no concept that dead is dead.

Gun owners have the right to own firearms and we also have the right not to have them in our homes. Those are choices that each family must make.

I think that far more children drown than any other death circumstance. So, you teach them to swim. You watch them carefully in the bathtub during bathtime. You take measures to prevent them from wandering off.

I fully understand the impact, I have experienced it first-hand more than once with family and friends.

None of us want a tragedy to happen, but sadly they do.

Growing up we did't have cap guns - WWII stopped those products. While my two sons were growing up, we lived on a small farm. All guns, long guns and handguns, were loaded, and we enjoyed hunting and plinking around the farm. So from their sub-teen years until HS graduation, I had complete trust that all was well with this program. As a teen, one son out shot the local cops on the handgun range. The boys reached adult-hood and now both have their own guns.

Yes, this doesn't fit the PC pattern about guns in the home; however I found the program to be successful.

That is pretty much how my dad ran his program too. Except that my brothers didn't shoot at cops.

I think oldcoot was saying his son was a better shot than the cops, not shooting at them. On the farm critters fed the family and by the age of ten or 11 one had to hunt and shells were counted. One shell meant one critter.

That's what I got from out shot on the gun range.

How do you know who the bad guy is? How do you know that the mental neighbor next door has a gun and is going to use it on you?

Mike, I found alot of humor in this blog LOL. Getting on with the afternoon I guess that 38 hasn't jumped out of the holster or off the table and gone wild and starting shooting up everything. Must be a well behaved gun and knows it manners LOL.

Same with me my Dad went and took me to all the safety classes for guns and hunting before I was allowed to hunt or even handle a gun. They were required then but sure was a good idea.

My Dad took me to the indoor range alot and we would shoot his 22 rifle at 50 foot into a steel trap, really got pretty good at shooting. One those adults would tell me when you can light a stick match at 50 foot with a rifle then you was good and needless to say can't call myself that good I would be lucky to even hit the match stick let alone lite it. LOL

We were around guns as well as children and taught how to handle them and I own a gun but I'm still glad there are some gun laws because there are people that maybe shouldn't have guns, for example someone that has previously committed a crime with a gun.

I also like the idea of a waiting period of a few days on buying a gun because that prevents someone from getting mad one day, buying a gun and shooting someone that if he had time to cool off would have not wanted to shoot.

TO CARRY OR NOT TO CARRY ISNT THAT A PERSONAL CHOICE/TO go hunting or not to go isnt that a choice ? My dad was from virgina I grew up in N.Y. both my brother and I went hunting with our father, we both were taught how to use a firarm it was part of our heritage.WEAPONS WERE ALWAYS IN THE HOUSE FROM,RIFLES TO SHOTGUNS.THE REVOLVER FROM THE CIVIL WAR THEY WERE ALL THERE. by choice after comming home from namm I didnt want anything to do with weapons,that is my choice.I dont try to force that on anyone and im sure my ideology hasnt killed a soul no more than conservative ideology has.We beat each other up about gun rights WHY?? IT"S constituional and we have the choice I SAY LEAVE IT ALONE....

CORPORATIONS profit lines should be fliud just like ours, using a rigid bottom line creates problems. The demand to increase profits EVERY QUARTER drives a system that is not realistic or sustainable.THAT need keeps jobs at risk.WE AS INVESTERS ARE UNWILLING TO ACCEPT THAT WE BROKE EVEN LAST QUARTER,OR WE DIDNT MEET PROJECTED GAINS,WE MISSED BY 2%..... off with the ceo's head.No the system is not perfect I dont think anyone expects it to be.What we should expect is realistic goals and successes understanding that there will be failures in both areas..I dont want them firing people to insure that I get a quarterly dividend.That is me.I look more to the long term.I HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN SOME ONE PAYS NOTHING IN TAXES AND I HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM WHEN CORPORATIONS PAY NOTHING.BOTH ARE USING GOVERNMENT PROVIDED LOOPHOLES,THER IS NO DIFFERENCE.
