Counting Chickens Already?
Posted Monday, February 20, at 12:56 PM
Anyone who's ever been in combat, knows that it's one thing to take a hill. Holding ON to it though........ can be a "horse of a different color", because now the "Other guy" has time to re-group, assess the situation and plan the "element of surprise."...

When All But One Isn’t Enough
Posted Sunday, February 19, at 5:49 PM

I had not planned to write a blog this evening.........just respond.......but I don't want this to get buried in the midst of 40 other responses, or personal "duels". Right up front. Roy wrote one about the 'whole truth not being told." So what's new?...

From “Drumbeat” to Drumright”
Posted Saturday, February 18, at 8:02 AM

Drumright, Oklahoma................."Where in the heck is THAT?" I wondered as I got out my road atlas a couple of years ago. For many, many years, I'd been putting off a trip to Washington D.C. I'd always felt that if God was going to give the United States an "enema".....Washington D.C. is where he'd have to stick the hose! I think that's even MORE true today than ever before...

Is Sabotage Illegal Anymore?
Posted Wednesday, February 15, at 5:20 PM

The Democrats seem to have this "thing" about supporting the Arabs........... One of the few things that Bush did RIGHT was to propose drilling up North, but there were enough "tree huggers" in the Congress to have it blocked.............so, we were held hostage to OPEC some more...

A Personal Letter To The “Hard Right” Only
Posted Tuesday, February 14, at 11:44 PM

(If you're a "curious liberal", don't waste your time reading this. You wouldn't understand it anyway). "To my fellow MEAN-SPIRITED, RADICAL, NAZI, PARANOID, CAPITALISTS, RACISTS, TERRORISTS, TEA-BAGGING, BIGOTED INFIDELS................."...

The “Eye in the Sky”
Posted Monday, February 13, at 2:17 PM

ANNOUNCED about 10 minutes ago........ The Federal Government is now planning to have 30,000 drones over the skies of the U.S. by the end of this next decade........and we aren't talking about over the borders either. We're talking about right over "Elm Street USA."...

Some Airplanes West of Omaha
Posted Monday, February 13, at 8:20 AM

The old SAC headquarters at Offutt AFB in Nebraska (I don't think we call it "SAC" (Strategic Air Command) anymore........everything today has been 're-abbreviated" to confuse everybody! Anyway, at Offutt, they used to have an outside static display area, that I remember seeing in 1979. ...

An Air Museum Well Worth The Trip
Posted Sunday, February 12, at 6:42 PM

If it ever flew as a military bird.....the odds are pretty good you'll find one at the Air Force Museum, just outside the gate of Wright --Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. I'd stopped to visit our daughter and son-in-law on my car trip east to D.C. a couple of years ago, and took a little time to wander around in a museum I hadn't seen in about 20 years, which is always being added-to as more aircraft become available...

Where I’m “comin’ From”
Posted Saturday, February 11, at 11:45 PM

This is just a short tag on my last blog . By and large....the MAIN difference between my 2-branch military career, and my civilian life.......is the order of two words. On active duty, it was "YOU WILL!" But as a civilian.........."You will" immediately became "Will you?"...

Get Mad………I Don’t Care Anymore
Posted Saturday, February 11, at 12:05 PM

So NOW they are mandating CHURCHES..........so much for that "separation of church and state", eh? I wrote a fairly recent blog entitled "Who IS this guy." Naturally, it drew a TON of responses, because this president is looked upon by many, as practically "the 2nd coming."...

“Tony The Bricklayer”
Posted Friday, February 10, at 7:33 AM

Once upon a time, there was a construction crew building a warehouse. "Little Tony", as they called him, was a stone mason building the walls. Every day when they'd all stop for lunch, Tony would sit down, open his lunch pail and get very angry.............."PEANUT BUTTER ON RYE BREAD AGAIN!!"...

A Pair of Prominent Automatics, part II
Posted Thursday, February 9, at 6:03 PM

It is no secret to my gun blog readers where I stand on the "automatics vs revolvers" issue. No need to go into it. But with that being said, I will say THIS: If for some reason I could only have ONE gun......and that gun HAD to be an automatic of some kind, but I at least had a choice in the matter....................

A Pair of prominent Automatics, part I

........"Bond.........JAMES Bond"..........or so says Sean Connery, Roger Moore, or the "007" of your choice.........the Famous Walther PPK has been on the "world stage since Hitler's time. The fact IS, he killed himself in his bunker with one, (Not with a Luger as many believe). Originally derived from the slightly larger "PP".......the PPK was designed for police use because of its more compact size...

The “Obscure” 270
Posted Tuesday, February 7, at 8:27 AM

There are so many of these "new & improved" rifle calibers floating around, that I think a short message would be in order concerning one of the finest deer & elk cartridges EVER. The little 270 Winchester. Of all of my hunting rifles, it was my 270 that most often went out with me. ...

The “Coal Burners”
Posted Monday, February 6, at 10:52 PM

Throughout most of our lifetimes, we who are into firearms, have become accustomed to clean-burning, easy to reload pistols. With practice and extra magazines & speed-loaders, many of us can keep a weapon steadily going almost without thought...

The Government is NOT your “Mommy & Daddy”
Posted Sunday, February 5, at 3:36 PM

But too many of you out there HONOR it as such. Before we reached the stage of thinking for ourselves (something that many are still struggling with), we grew up in our "Democrat & Republican homes", where in-between the green beans, mashed potatoes and "pass the butter please", our 'innocent little ears" were filled up listening to our parents, grandparents, uncles & aunts discussing politics...

Who IS This Guy?
Posted Saturday, February 4, at 11:10 AM

Not that it matters now.......if he's "legit", people have wasted a lot of time & money.............and if he ISN'T........well, he pulled it off. Barack Obama is a "mystery man." The American people know LESS about this man than any other President before him, and while I've had my own thoughts about this "birther" thing, I let it go (publicly) quite awhile back...

Elect or Re-Elect
Posted Friday, February 3, at 9:37 AM

Well.....here we are again, "sports fans".......no matter HOW the GOP Primary turns out, it's STILL going to be another "lesser of two evils" in November. Idiots who DEFENDED "Willie" & Monica INSIDE the Oval Office, suddenly got "moral" about the "alleged" personal lifestyle of a businessman 20 years ago before anyone ever heard of him..... and so Herman is gone...

A Short Thought To Ponder About Slavery
Posted Wednesday, February 1, at 9:41 PM

"This old fellow bought some corn, loaded it into his wagon, and started off down the road to the town swamp. He told his neighbors he was going to catch the wild pigs in the swamp. Well, those pigs had been there for fifty years, and nobody had ever caught them, so his neighbors thought he was loony. Well, it wasn't many weeks before he came back to town and he had the pigs...

Some Wheels Just Stay Cool
Posted Tuesday, January 31, at 8:28 AM

There's a sort of standing joke on our block, that "if it ain't 40 years old, it don't sit in our driveway." And I suppose there's something TO that.............from my earliest memories, I've been behind the wheel of SOMETHING. Growing up when I did, exposed me to a lot of really cool cars that are CLASSICS today. That's Dad & I with our '46 Plymouth, and on the right, I'm standing with my cousins, Linda & Carol in front of Uncle Warner's '52 Chevrolet...
