  • Here's another version It's floating around in cyberspace

The Modern Version of the fable of the ant and the grasshopper as reported on Fox News and regurgitated endlessly by right wing am radio hosts such as Rush Limbaugh (to the point where it is accepted as gospel by their listens who have an average apparent IQ of 27) has neglected to report the full story.

It turns out that the grasshopper wasn't really dancing and playing all summer. He was really a disabled Vet who had recently returned from President Bush's war in Iraq where he was severely injured while riding in a Hummer that was not properly armored even though the war has been going on for over 4 years.

What the ant had interpreted as dancing was really a bad gait caused by an ill-fitted prosthesis that had been gnawed on by rats while waiting for treatment at Walter Reed Hospital.

The playing was the grasshopper attempting to hitch a ride because he couldn't afford to pay the $3.49 per gallon for gasoline that Exxon/Mobil was charging in an effort to boost their already record quarterly profits of 92 Billion Dollars (that's $92,000,000,000.00) which happened to be up 75% from the last record quarter that they had.

He was trying to catch a ride to the Halliburton headquarters because he heard that they were doing pretty good - Build and Fight For Profit! - and thought that they might be hiring. It turns out that they were hiring, just not here in the US. They had openings at their customer call center, but it was located in Bangalore, India. He thought about trying to make it over there for the job, but it turns out that the average wage that is paid to these call center people is only the equivalent of about $175.00 a month.

It also turns out that Fox News didn't quite have it right on the ant's situation either. It turns out that he was really a Republican congressman from Sugar Land Texas. What was supposedly work was really him scurrying from corporation to corporation eliciting bribes...ahhh, I mean, donations for a supposed children's charity that were then diverted to paying for parties at the Republican National convention. As an inducement for these contributions the ant was offering exclusive face time with the Vice-President of the United States and other top Republicans aboard a luxury yacht. These meager donations of $50,000 to $100,000 were exempt from campaign finance reports because they weren't for a political campaign, but rather a donation to a children's charity!

And while it was true that the Democratic leadership did call for a return to financial sanity by rescinding the tax cuts for the rich, which the ant had profited by handsomely, it wasn't true that the ant ever came any where near paying his fair share in taxes. As it turned out, the ant had moved the headquarters of his tool making business that he had purchased in a hostile, leveraged takeover from the small Connecticut town where it had been located since 1843 to Bermuda to avoid paying United States taxes.

The other thing that Fox had wrong was that the ant didn't get fined for violating the EEOC statues, he was fired for soliciting sex with an under age congressional page. Fox also didn't report that the Republican Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert and other key Republicans knew about the ant's behavior, possibly for years without ever doing anything about it.

As far as the grasshopper ending up dead in the ant's house, this part is true. It turned out that the ant's house was indeed seized by the government due to the ant being caught with over 2000 oxycontin tablets that it was suspected that he had gotten from Rush Limbaugh.

The grasshopper bought the house at the drug seizure auction with the money that he made from selling his story to the National Enquirer. He was shot and killed during a botched drug raid. It turned out that the date for the raid was wrong on the memo that the DEA sent to the FBI, the state highway patrol and the local drug enforcement task force. When the joint task force battered in the door to what they thought was the ant's house and saw a grasshopper of color, they shot first and asked questions second.

At first the chief of police denied any wrong doing on the part of his officers or any members of the task force. The grasshopper was forced to recant his denials when a copy of the security tape from the ant/grasshopper's home surfaced on YouTube that clearly showed the grasshopper being beaten, tortured and then shot by various members of the task force. It later turned out that several members of the task force had actually taken digital photographs of the grasshopper being tortured and humiliated.

The ant in the mean time has just received a $5,000,000 advance on his tell all book and is in negotiations with the Lifetime Channel for an autobiographical movie of his life. It is rumored that he is considering teaming up with Newt Gingrich to take a run at the Republican nomination for President and Vice-President.

  • "And where does HE buy them???? From CANADA! So much for supporting the American businessman."

HE, did not purchase the buses anymore than HE bought Air Force One, Marine One, or the Presidential Limousine. The President doesn't get to decide how he travels, the Secret Service does.

These buses were purchased by the SECRET SERVICE more than a year ago in anticipation of the upcoming campaign season. They purchased TWO of them. One for the Democratic nominee (President) and one for the Republican nominee (who gets Secret Service protection btw).

They were bought so that the SECRET SERVICE could stop wasting money leasing/renting buses and modifying them with the needed security measures only to have to remove these modifications when they were no longer needed.

Who did they buy them from, you ask????? A little AMERICAN company in Nashville Tn called Hemphill Brothers Coach Co. This company in turn SUB-CONTRACTED the purchase of the bus shells to Prevost, a Canadian company. They bought the Diesel engines from DETROIT. The buses were assembled in NASHVILLE Tn. by Hemphill Brothers Coach Co. using the Canadian shell, the Detroit engines and whatever security/communications modifications the SECRET SERVICE asked for.

But of course these little facts will get trivialized as "semantics" and "minutiae" as the subject will quickly change to railing against how he shouldn't be campaigning anyway or on vacation.

  • "MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be careful how you vote in 2012"

Seems I remember a time not so long ago when (semi) "honorable" gentlemen could reached across the partisan divide and worked things out....

We the people are getting what we voted for in 2008 & 2010. Anybody wanna bet it gets a WHOLE lot worse before it gets better?

-- Posted by Craftbeer on Fri, Aug 19, 2011, at 6:22 PM
  • Hannity did an "expose" documentary style piece on the whole Operation Gunrunner/Fast and Furious scandal. Basically asking what did the President know, and when did he know it.

-- Posted by Amuzeme on Fri, Aug 19, 2011, at 9:47 PM
  • Sorry Zook, I didn't want to go here, but since you brought it up:

"Fellow Rightwing Extremist NAZI Tea-Party Terrorists......."

Right-wing extremist ideology has its roots in nationalism and racism. It is governed by the idea that ethnic affiliation to a nation or race is of the utmost importance for an individual. All other interests and values, including civil and human rights, are subordinate to it.

Right-wing extremists propagate a political system in which the state and the people amalgamate -- as an alleged natural order -- to form a unity ("ideology of the ethnic community"). Actually, this results in an anti-pluralistic system, leaving no room for democratic decision-making procedures. Generally, all right-wing extremists have in common that ethnic affiliation and xenophobia directed against the principle of equality are overestimated.

Mind you, I cherry-picked the above from somewhere on the net and it does convey the general right wing ideology.

  • The unemployment rate for African Americans fell to 15.9% as more African Americans continued to leave the labor force. The U.S. Department of Labor reported that 11,541,000 African Americans between the ages of 16 and 64 were not in the labor force in the month of July. This is up from 11,360,000 African Americans reported as not being in the labor force in the month of June.

The labor force is made up of individuals between the ages of 16 and 64 who are working, or if not working, are willing and able to work and are looking for a job. Individuals enter and leave the labor force based on age, retirement, or in the worse case, when they have given up on finding a job.

In July, 17,582,000 African Americans were in the labor force, while 17,733,000 African Americans between the ages of 16 and 64 in June were either working or looking for work.

Approximately 14,786,000 African Americans were employed in July, down from 14,855,000 employed in June. The unemployment rate was 16.2% in June.

Maybe the president should think of these folks before giving work permits to illegals? Just my thought.

  • Lamont: I think Bush spent too much and got us in wars we didn't have to get into. When he left office unemployment was around 6 % and gas was around 1.72. We had no energy policy and we still don't. We had no immigration policy and we still don't. We have more wars now than then.We have a serious debt problem and unempolyment problem and I can't see where anything has been done to help those most in need of a job.All I have seen is wreckless spending and a spreading of the wealth. We still are at Gitmo, we are still having troops killed for nothing. I don't think it is getting better. Do you?

I think Lamont says he listens, Mike has said he listens sometimes, MtnHomer has listened and I've listened. So we all have an average IQ of 27? What if I said those who voted for Obama had an IQ of a toaster. Would that be very nice? I've seen studies of people who listen to Rush acutally have a higher IQ.

  • The economy is so bad that, I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail. CEOs are now playing miniature golf. Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen. Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America. Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore. A picture is now only worth 200 words. They renamed Wall Street "Wal-Mart Street." Finally, I called the Suicide Hotline. I got a call center in Pakistan and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck!!

  • FUNNY how that same trend of thought didnt take place with the BUSH tax cuts.......there just expiring as planned.......you have got to be kidding me. ON the backs of the working poor....thats the solution???????? bush gave tax cuts and then raised the debt cieling. How does that work ??????? OH I KNOW WE HAD TO PAY FOR THEM......

  • I dont remember anyone bashing bush as he called for immergration reform and attempted to put in place some of the same things this press is advocating so lets keep it straight....Let us not forget that this press stopped all investigation into the bush justice dept to say the least.I could say that violations of the law is not just a democrat forte.I for one do not agree with his decision and think it is wrong.but i am also having a hard time dealing with deporting someone who has served honorably in our military.THAT BOTHERS ME

  • OBAMA RESIGNS! Will Focus on 2012 Election

By Mark Donahue WASHINGTON, DC -- The White House announced today that President Barack Obama will step down as the President of the United States of America so that he can focus on winning the 2012 Democratic Presidential Nomination.

White House Press Secretary, Jay Carney, said that the President plans to make an official announcement in a speech at Germany's Tiergarten Park, the same location of his speech in 2008 where an estimated 200,000 Germans screamed and cheered for him.

"The President feels it would be an appropriate location to announce that he will be running as a Democratic presidential candidate in the 2012 Presidential election."

The Daily Rash spoke with Carney following his announcement.

Jay Carney: President Obama is very much aware that things are not going well for the United States right now. So he is determined to let the people know that he has plans to end the wars, pass an even better universal health care bill and to stop global warming in 2012.

The Daily Rash: But isn't he trying to do those things now?

Jay Carney: President Obama realizes that there are far too many problems right now to really accomplish anything. With the economy still so sluggish, many people are wary of more bail-outs, let alone the exorbitant costs of Obama-care. Since a Cap and Trade bill could put thousands more out of work, he understands that the time for change is almost now.

The Daily Rash: But those are the changes he is attempting to make now.

Jay Carney: Not anymore! President Obama wants to start all over.

    The Daily Rash: Huh?

Jay Carney: Remember when we were kids? When we'd be playing a game of....oh, I don't know... kick-ball? Remember when something didn't go right and we did a do-over? Or sometimes we even started the whole game over? Well that's what President Obama is going to do. He wants a do-over. So he's going to stop being President for right now and run for president again in about a year!

The Daily Rash: Can he do that?

Jay Carney: Of course he can! He's Barack Obama! And he's hoping to change everything next time.

The Daily Rash: So Joe Biden is going to be President?

Jay Carney: Oh God no! I mean, Vice President Biden wouldn't think of it! He's really into being the Vice President. Nothing could pull him away from his Vice Presidential duties.

The Daily Rash: But he has to take over as President. It's in the Constitution!

Jay Carney: Well, I don't know if I'd go that far! President Obama is going to choose a Presidential Czar. That way, Vice President Biden can continue to do the magnificent job he's doing as the Vice President. Of course, by choosing a Presidential Czar, President Obama can avoid the riots, burning of cities and the slaughter that would occur by announcing that House Speaker Boehner is the new President of the United States.

The Daily Rash: Who is Obama choosing to be the new Presidential Czar?

Jay Carney: At this time the President has not yet decided that, but he hopes to choose someone before he stops being President. If the time comes and he hasn't yet chosen anyone, he will still act like the President. He and his family will still live in the White House, he just won't be involved in all the stuff that's making everything so difficult.

The Daily Rash: What will he do?

Jay Carney: Oh, he's got lots of plans! Those Roman Columns from the Denver speech are still in storage, so we are definitely going to use them in Germany. Of course, right now we're just in the beginning stages. But I do know that he'll be co-hosting a week with Oprah on her new network and that he and Michelle are doing Dancing with the Stars. There's something in the works with Maury Povitch and we're still waiting to hear from Springer. I was just authorized to announce that the Obamas will be on ABC's Wife Swap with Rosie O'Donnell and her wife or girlfriend... depends on what state you live in! (several people laugh)

The Daily Rash: But what's going to happen to the country? Everything is going to fall apart!

Jay Carney: Exactly! And that is why Obama is going to be so necessary in 2012! He will be the only one who can change things!

The Daily Rash: The Hope and Change thing again?

Jay Carney: Better! For 2012 it's.... Hope and Change for Real.

  • Yeah I seen that email a few years ago, its been floating around the internet for awhile now and it keeps getting changed.

You know Maxine Waters has had her share of problems and is awaiting a trial

Waters is accused of using her influence to gain special treatment for Massachusetts-based bank One United, which received $12 million in bailout funds. Changing a law was required in order to get them the money. Her husband, former Ambassador Sidney Williams, owned more than $350,000 in stock in the bank, and had also been a board member.

I'm surprised that Zook didn't get all over that.......you know because she is a democrat but instead he had to make a big thing about her getting after Obama for not being tough enough.

  • I don't know what we did in Libya is right or wrong either, time will tell. But if McCain and Palin were in office and did what Obama's doing now in Libya, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, New York Times, LA Times, MSNBC, CNN, Hollywood, the dems in the sneate and house, lawyers, SEIU, and myriad of other understanding libs would be calling for their impeachment.

-- Posted by skeeter on Tue, Aug 23, 2011, at 3:22 PM
  • Nobody called for Reagan's impeachment? I'm pretty sure lots called for his impeachment. If he woke up in the morning most of the libs were upset. And didn't Bush get congressional approval for war? Wasn't it Slick Willie who first said, along with his wife, that they had WMD's and something had to be done? Just asking.

  • All this talk about Obama's approval rating I did a search to see if he was the only President who had received a low approval rating during his time as President

    Here's what I found

Bush began his presidency with approval ratings near 50%. Following the September 11 attacks, Bush held approval ratings of greater than 85%, among the highest for any President. Since then, his approval ratings and approval of his handling of domestic, economic, and foreign policy issues steadily declined, and despite consistent efforts to do so, President Bush and his Administration were unable to rally public support for the last three years, with each year seeing a steady decline in the Administration's support level to the point of Bush eventually dropping to a 19% approval rating and 77% disapproval rating, both records for a sitting president

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Wed, Aug 24, 2011, at 8:43 AM
  • OK so you don't like me mentioning Bush's approval rating.

    Here's Reagans

Through most of his presidency, Reagan did not rate much higher than other post-World War II presidents. And during his first two years, Reagan's approval ratings were quite low. His 52 percent average approval rating for his presidency places him sixth out of the past ten presidents, behind Kennedy (70 percent), Eisenhower (66 percent), George H.W. Bush (61 percent), Clinton (55 percent), and Johnson (55 percent). His popularity frequently dipped below 50 percent during his first term, plummeted to 46 percent during the Iran-Contra scandal, and never exceeded 68 percent. (By contrast, Clinton's maximum approval rating hit 71 percent.)

  • I don't this president stands a chance if the economy stays like it is and it if gets worse, oh my. He just doesn't understand what it takes to get America working. He has never really had that kind of experience or responsiblity in his life. What are his poll ratings for his work on the economy - 20 some percent. I personally would like to see Palin or Perry get it just to see the reactions of the libs. Priceless.

  • All I was doing is showing you that polls change often and it's not carved in stone that the polls this month will stay that way. They could even go lower or higher between now and when we have the election.

From what I can see there is only 2 who could possibly beat Obama and they aren't on your list...

And of coarse Obama's poll on economy is down and has been down. The economy has effected just about everyone. But when it comes to push or shove who wants to take a chance on some candidate who speaks through the corner of his/her mouth.

What can they possibly do to fix our economy problem?? Has any one even heard what the above candidates have said how they would fix the economy? What I have heard so far is just a bunch of their rhetoric spewing out of the corners of their mouths?

Like I said 2 could beat Obama because these 2 actually answer questions they are asked compared to any of the other candidates.

  • I was speaking of the experience of actually being a capitalist and not a socialist. I think the socialist thinking of his is not a good mindset for creating jobs. I'll take this from those rascals and give it to my big government and let me decide where ths jobs are and who has to jump through what hoops to get said money.I think there are a lot of people who can do a better job than Barry has and their qualification for me is they ain't Barry. Maybe a farmer, house builder, housewife? Just saying. And yes Bush started the war with the help of dims in both houses. That was not the thread of the blog I was into.

  • Perry won't make it to the Primary !! I think someone is going to move up in the polls but not for awhile yet. We still have a long way to go before then...

Even the Demos's are talking about the 2 I think could possibly take Obama and if they are talking then you know they have some fear !

Even thought it will be a good Challenge Obama will get re-elected because we all ready know what we have and why take a chance on a newby who we don't know for sure what they will do because when they're campaigning their talking the talk and you know the rest of that line.

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Wed, Aug 24, 2011, at 5:07 PM
  • A big surprise is John Huntsman and the other one is Ron Paul........ The Demos like those 2 because you can get answers out of them....

  • The latest poll by Democracy Corps, the firm of James Carville and Stan Greenberg, has Republicans leading on the generic ballot among likely voters, 48 percent to 42 percent.

Deep in the poll, they ask, "Now, I am going to read you a list of words and phrases which people use to describe political figures. For each word or phrase, please tell me whether it describes Barack Obama very well, well, not too well, or not well at all."

On "too liberal," 35 percent of likely voters say it describes Obama "very well," 21 percent say "well," 21 percent say "not too well," and 17 percent say "not well at all." In other words, 56 percent of likely voters consider Obama too liberal.

When asked about "a socialist," 33 percent of likely voters say it describes Obama "very well," 22 percent say "well," 15 percent say "not too well," and 25 percent say "not well at all."

In other words, 55 percent of likely voters think "socialist" is a reasonably accurate way of describing Obama.

A little dated, maybe higher now.

  • Yeah I know Ron Paul will never make it but he could move up in the polls. Besides Demos liking him so do some Repubs. I have friends who are Repubs and they like him.

  • Yeah there's more of those lie lists out there.

There's one for Both Bush's and one for Clinton and one for Reagan and I am sure if I dig deeper I can find more lie lists.

Zook I would say he was a flip flop long before he was a Republican. Is that what you call a RINO? Not quite sure what he was called back then

Reagan endorsed the presidential candidacies of Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956 as well as that of Nixon in 1960 "while remaining a Democrat."

  • I'm starting to get worried about you homer? Your getting lost, you better stick with the crayons and coloring book

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Wed, Aug 24, 2011, at 10:24 PM
  • MISSION ACCOMPLISHED..........WAS IT A LIE???????

Depends on what mission you were talking about.

For some no matter what is said by some and in what context it is a lie.....why argue there minds are made up.They only see reason if it comes from the right so why bother.I noticed the snide remarks havn't stoped.

  • MtnHomer: That's really a long list and maybe why people are so fed up with him. I also think they really floated the idea of GI's paying for their own health care from my reasearch. If this is the most transparent admin in history how about we see the line of communications on the gun running deals with Mexico. I sure wish the American media would stop carrying water for this guy. Ray Charles could see he doesn't tell the truth and I hope his new jobs plan is deader than Elvis unless there are tax cuts and no spending. We are taxed enough, spending has to be cut.

  • Earlier in this blog I noticed some comments on Iraq and the blaming game. I've always thought that if Clinton would have acted, after Osama had killed our troops, with missile strikes we may not have had 9/11 or the 2nd Irag war. Or maybe if he had accepted Osama when he was offered to us instead of confering with Hillary and deciding it was a matter for the courts, we would not have had 9/11. But I guess he was too busy cigaring it up with Monica to let the killing of our troops be a distraction.

  • Maybe it will be a long time before you hear, are you better off now than you were four years ago?

-- Posted by arsenal on Thu, Aug 25, 2011, at 8:31 AM
  • All the lie lists I have seen are long. Seems they started doing lie lists a very long time ago, starting way back with at least Reagan and maybe even farther back then him.

And the lists are just as long as Obama's list of lies or maybe even longer. So Obama ain't so special with a list of lies and he certainly wasn't the first to have a list of lies

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Thu, Aug 25, 2011, at 9:22 AM
  • I'm not sure who Miss Cleo is but I'm sure it isn't a Miss Cleo moment to the families and friends of the thousands of American troops killed in Iraq and the 10's of thousands who were maimed, legs blown off etc. I think maybe a high percentage of those wish maybe Clinton would have done more and Bush would never had gotten us into that mess.

  • Homer what do you mean?

and MsM comes out of nowhere with a post that isn't even in the ballpark. She's done it 1,000 times if she's done it once, and she HAS done it once!

What posts weren't in the ballpark?

  • On this blog when the conversation was about Rick Perry, I left a couple comments that he would not make it and I thought there was 2 others that could move up in the polls

When you posted the long list of Obama's lies

I posted that there were other list of lies for both the Bush's and Clinton and Reagan so Obama's list of lies wasn't the first that has been out there. So as far as I know I didn't veer off the beaten path.

  • What are you saying here Zook?

I've never been a fan of EITHER Bush, so along those lines, maybe you'd give us a peek through YOUR eyes, Marylin..........

Through YOUR eyes......is there NO lying or corruption within all of the liberals you support and praise?

Are you saying both the Bush's were corrupt?

Did you forget I voted for both of them? I also have said I voted for Clinton and your hero Reagan

Unlike Homer I am an INDEPENDENT !!!

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Sun, Aug 28, 2011, at 12:26 PM
  • i just realized that the Presidents that I said I voted for and including Obama all became elected. hmmmmmm That's strange. It's almost as if I can predict who will be President. LoL !

  • And an Independent doesn't say they are an Independent but will never vote for some one who is a Democrat.

I say Obama 2012 because there isn't anyone else worth having my vote. You know why I titled my blog "Obama is Awesome" it was for you HOMER geeeeeeez you don't have any sense of humor.

I can bring up Bush any time I want to, I voted for him....

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Mon, Aug 29, 2011, at 8:49 AM
  • I guess it would mean you don't vote if you don't like the Republican who is running. To bad an Independent don't have a chance to run......

But it will always be a 2 party system
