  • I watched both speechs and changed channels.... Cnn all for Obama, blah blah blah... Fox news all for Boehner blah blah blah........All In all I thought Obama gave more detail then Boehner did.

    I think the wealthy corporations should be taxed a little more.....And if I heard right Obama's plan called for more cuts then what Boehner wants...

    Whatever I wish they would get the show on the rode and get it done!

    Now about CJW I'm thinking if Brenda had deleted them she would of told us........So I am wondering if CJW works for the paper and he deleted his own posts??

  • While I'm at it, close our borders and tax the living bejeasus out of any company that sends OUR jobs overseas, just so the CEO's and others can collect checks 500 times the average wage! All the wall street shysters whose fleeced the American public with their careless risk taking, throw them in jail like the common criminals they are! If we are going to attack another country, then let's actually declare war and go into it to WIN! If that means bombing them into the stone age, so be it.

    The last time this country declared war was WW2!

    Enough shedding our soldiers blood for these stupid police actions, or what ever term they wish to use. Enough for now, I need to calm down and get some sleep for work tomorrow.

  • Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming , Co-Chair of Obama's deficit

    commission, calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he

    compared "Social Security" to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats.

    Here's a response in a letter from a unknown farmer in Montana ....

    I think he is a little ticked off! He also tells it like it is ! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    "Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight..

    1. As a career politician, you have been on the public teat for FIFTY

    YEARS.

    2.. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15

    years old. I am now 63).

    3 My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other

    Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for

    decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give

    OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus

    bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme

    that would have made Bernie Madoff proud.

    4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the

    proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing

    retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to

    age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission are proposing to move the

    goalposts YET AGAIN.

    5 I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare

    from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the

    game.. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy

    to such an extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay

    the bills.

    6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our

    entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why?

    Because you incompetents spent our money so profligately that

    you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come

    to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling you on
    your incompetence. Well, Captain , I have a few questions for
    YOU.
    1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during
    your pathetic 50-year political career?
    2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and
    how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the
    American taxpayers?
    3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?
    4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you
    proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual,
    have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?
    It is you, Captain , and your political co-conspirators called
    Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow nutcases
    who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from
    millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers. And for what? Votes. That's right,
    sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of
    advancing your pathetic political careers. You know it, we know it, and
    you know that we know it.
    And you can take that to the bank, you miserable A.
    saw on the net
  • HEY ZOOK DIDNT I SEND YOU THAT ABOUT A MONTH BACK?????????? I THINK WE BOTH GOT A GOOD ONE OUT OF THAT .....AND I AGREE ONE HUNDRED PERCENT.THAT MADE ME VERY ANGRY,SIMPSON MUST HAVE BEEN ON JACK DANIELS THAT DAY......
  • The current administration has borrowed more money than all the previous administrations combined and spent it. An analogy would be if your family had one credit card with a 3 thousand dollar limit when your income was twenty thousand dollars and you got a limit increase to 10 thousand dollars when your income was fifty thousand dollars. The fact that you had more credit (debt limit) is relative to your ability to pay it back.
    Now imagine you have an income of 80 thousand dollars and a credit limit of 80 thousand dollars but you have maxed all of your cards out. Is the solution to apply for more credit or stop spending money you don't have?
    Does this sound right?
  • This is too sad for words.
    -- Posted by KH Gal on Thu, Jul 28, 2011, at 9:54 AM
  • You post replies before you think about how you are saying things and you make it personal on so many levels.
    I am being general, not pointing out anyone in particular. But WE have to stop this frenzy, it really isn't accomplishing anything. you might as well sit outside the drugstore and play checkers.
    Bottom line: We have lazy people, we have disabled people. WE have rich people who are stingy and deceptive, We have rich people who are generous. We have small businesses that employ people and might clear $250,000 a year. We have greedy people. I could go on with the list, but by now you are getting the picture.
    We cannot lump everyone together by party, circumstance, or by money or the lack thereof.
    And in the same breath, you should on all of your replies not place the other person in a catagory either.
    Not all Republicans are Liars , but most politicians are. Not all Democrats want to spend your money, but most politicians will.
    Pulling facts off of the internet to prove your point is fine, but realize that thousands of experts disagree on most everything.
    If you post them, that does not make you a liar or someone who is informed or unimformed. It just makes you resourceful.
    Saying one network is filled with false news, but ignoring the obvious ommisions of truth from another makes you somewhat manipulative.
    The fact of the matter is we are in big trouble. But what is more disturbing to me and others is how we want to ride roughshod over things to get our point across.
    I agree with Mike on almost everything, however, I don't always agree with the way he delivers it. That doesn't make him a bad person. We just disagree on how a matter should be approached.
    Brenda tried to make a point last week and I think it got missed. Stay on subject and be a little more courteous.
    Quite frankly, we are all beating the same dead horse, but all of us have a different perspective on how the horse died in the first place. Or how he was treated before his demise and by whom.
    The well is dry. Do you want to dig deeper and find water or are you choosing to shovel more dirt in so that no one can get a drink?
    Your choice. I probably won't be commenting on blogs any more, simply because I feel as though I don't want to be a part of this acrimony.
    I will, however, continue to write my own blogs and try to keep them as positive as I can.
    -- Posted by KH Gal on Thu, Jul 28, 2011, at 3:04 PM
  • It really is hard to keep on subject but it is what needs to be done. The country is in such bad shape with unemployment being around 16 or 17 percent and gas being so expensive. No energy policy, no budget, a call for immigration regulation to buy votes and the world upset with us. Wars to no end and a call to raise our taxes. And I can't see a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We have got to get people back to work and stop the excessive spending in Washington or this will be end of a great run.
  • I think you are exactly right, it will always be business as usual.
  • Bazookaman,
    You keep asking to see the Presidents plan for solving this debt crisis, well here it is...there isn't one, and believe it or not, that's a GOOD thing. What has been pointed out numerous times across your blog is that it is CONGRESS that holds the purse strings. CONGRESS determines what programs get funded or defunded. It is CONGRESS's job and responsibility to write the laws and present them to the President for signature or veto.
    The president can not directly introduce legislative proposals for consideration in Congress. The President or other officials of the executive branch may draft legislation and then ask senators or representatives to introduce these drafts into Congress. Do you think that maybe he's had a hand in drafting Sen Reids plan?????...Hmmmmm.
    The President has outlined what he wants to see in legislation that would raise the debt limit. His main requirement is that a long term deal be worked out, so we don't have to go through this all over again in a few months. He has sat down with democratic leaders and gave them their marching orders, he's tried to work with the republican leaders and they walked out on him. He's appealed to the american people to pressure their congressmen/women to put an end to all this stupidity. Really, what more do you want from him?
    You keep saying that we have a president that doesn't respect the constitution, but when he tries to get the job done within the framework OF the constitution, he gets reamed for it.
    If the president attempted to draft legislation, and ram it through congress, he'd be villified by the right and left both. The fallout would be worse than the "Obamacare" debacle. Maybe he's learned his lesson from that whole mess and has decided to work behind the scenes to get what needs to be done passed.
