  • I liked reading that statement written by Mr Hall MtnHomer. It says it better than I ever could. Thanks. Also I think it was Bill Clinton that signed NAFTA not President Bush. Clinton made some changes that he said would protect our workers. Also, because some can not come up with a list of accomplishmets now we have the statement that it's hard to come up with any presidents accomplishments. Kind of like they "all do it in reverse" except it's none of them did it. One never knows do one. And MtnHomer keeping your name to your self is your business not theirs. They always seem to know what we should do.

Mike, A simple blood test will tell you if you have gout. I have gout and arthritis and they can't do anything for either of them. When I got gout the med's they gave me didn't do much good, just glad it doesn't hit me all that often. I have not be able to find anyone to agree to what food may cause gout. Every Doctor and on line people all say something different. I was told peas or shell fish caused mine but that didn't turn out to be true. It can attack any joint anytime it pleases I have it in my feet but was told becarefull it can hit any of my joints. Just went thru a couple of months ago when it hit one foot and it sure wasn't nice about it. Also watch taking over the counter meds if you are taking other meds they can cause more problems. Based on my meds the Doctor told me to check with him before taking any over the counter stuff just to be sure.

  • I doubt it is gout as it will show in the big toe most often but it's better to be safe and rely on doctor's orders. I know it is known as the rich man's illness as rich food promotes it.

-- Posted by skeeter on Sat, Jul 23, 2011, at 11:50 AM
  • zook i have had gout in my hands mainly in my thumb, yes it can strike anywhere there is a joint.I said cherries it works for me i eat a cherry yogurt once a day....kills two birds with one stone.i can usually do this for weeks without a twinge. When i do get a twing i take the aleve for a day or two and the swelling stops and therefore the pain, which can be bad.I have meds for the gout but aleve works better for me.

someone told me about cherries i asked the doc and he said yep.....get them in you anyway you want.....do not eat strawberrys period.

Just have to remember Mike nobody posting on here is a Doctor, so you have to do what works best and go along with the Doc. Even they don't know all the answers all the time. Just look at how many people are fighting with the VA over disabality over Agent Orange that was used in Korea and again in Vietnam and didn't have to be boots on the ground in SVN to come in contact with it. www.webmd.com has alot of info but even its not always correct but can be a good source of looking for things.

Skeeter maybe you need to try the Dump Cake it has the cherries lol but also alot of things that aren't good for any of us.

    -- Posted by Eagle_eye on Sat, Jul 23, 2011, at 6:22 PM
  • Hope your pain lets up soon. It's no picnic to be in pain........ I have Arthritis from the back of my neck down to my feet but never have had it in my hands....... I have seen hands that were crippled with Arthritis and they look so swollen up and painful....... I am very lucky I don't have it in my hands

Your so right HewBet, there are alot of people have problems from Agent Orange and our so called Government keeps looking for ways to say it didn't happen. Mike has had his share of problems from it and so are others. I have a couple of appeals in right now with the VA and have been shot down on some that goes right back to Agent Orange.

Skeeter you may want to try the Dump Cake it has the cherries but I don't think Mike wants any part of it with him having diabetic problems.

    -- Posted by Eagle_eye on Sat, Jul 23, 2011, at 7:04 PM
  • Dump cake sounds like a good solution if it works.Best of two worlds.

Your so right HewBet, it just amazing how many in DC never been part of the military but tell the military what to do including the UMCJ. To go along with your comment I think everyone should have to spend at least one term in the Military. Even today under women's rights we have them flying combat aircraft and serving in combat zones and I do believe in equal rights for females same as males. One thing about the military equal rank equal pay for both male and female. Way to many in Washington DC that never served a day in uniform. About the only ones I will come down on is the draft dodgers, those that have a medical problem I see no reason to make them serve. My Dad was WW2, 2 of his brothers were Korea and my Moms brother was WW2 and was even stationed over at Gowen Field. I was the only one that made a career of it and served my 21 years and am a Vietnam Vet even if it wasn't boots on the ground in SVN and like my Dad we just never talk about where we were at or what we did, I guess that is just the way our family has done it.

  • HEWBET... I REMEBER HOMMER POSTING SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I DONT REMEMBER ANYONE ATTACKING IT THERE IS NOTHING THERE TO ATTACK.....SO IF IT WAS, THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE OF SOME SORT.......MIGHT HAVE STARTED OFF INSULTING SOMEONE.....ZOOK and i have discussed that several times and have always been in lockstep agreement.

I have mentioned the arrogance of power the elected government thrives in it.That is how they get reelected seniority and bring home the bacon.THEY DO NOT ACT IN CONCERT ON BEHALF OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE....JUST A THOUGHT ...i have both right and left wingers from hell in my band but to play good music we have to do it together,an we let each other know when we are cooking, and that is the way our elected officials should play also.AND we embrace each form of music no matter what it is. We dont hate or dispise any of it and no form is better than the other, each has something to give to the final product. In my opinion that is the way it should be in this country of ours.

  • Here's his post and I had left a comment about it.

This had been circulated in emails in 2009 however the way homer posted it made it look like it was something that was passed. At least that's how I took it to be. You can see for your selfs and decide, and I could be the only one who thought it was a suspicious post

    READ BELOW

And what the heck, since my blood's boiling right now, how about this:

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

How about THIS for a Congressional Reform Act:

    Congressional Reform Act of 2011

    1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

    2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

    3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

    5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

    6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

    7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.

The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!

Not true most are lies and it was circulated in emails to start rumors

  • I don't disagree with the wording of it, I didn't like the way he posted it..

I said it was lies and not true because many times homer has tried to make articles appear to be his own words, or words taken out of context. I was suspicious of the way he posted it....

  • SEE THERE IS THE SNIDE REMARK AGAIN........WHY????

IS that part of the hate and dispise thing ???????

so if a dem or as percieved a liberal says anything it is dismissed it out of hand and add a snide insulting remark.

I ASK THIS QUESTION............If a conservative judges people out of hand and assumes that whatever they say or do is the only way it should be said, or done and disrespects every other view why would i feel that that group or person would govern fairly ??????????

-- Posted by lamont on Sun, Jul 24, 2011, at 4:01 PM
  • That is what most economist are saying, the read i told us about in the statesman says basicly the same thing. This is about insuring a lie is told (both partys) and who the most believers are. It is about creating a scenario for political gain at our exspence,i been saying that. But the public one side or the other has bought the lie.

This is about ideaology creating panic, hate and discontent, they pull out a different set of garbage as needed and see what sticks.Any person who keeps track can read between the lines, had that conversation last nite with a person from the right and we both AGREED. HE IS ABOUT MAKING MONEY.There making scapegoats out of the AMERICAN PEOPLE......Not one sacrifice have they suggested for themselves, not one. That tells the whole tale right there.

-- Posted by lamont on Sun, Jul 24, 2011, at 9:28 PM
  • I don't agree with that article.I was taught in school that the private citizen spending and circulating money is what is good for the economy. Not governemnt spending. Money that is circulated through public hands is more effective. Problem is with no budget in 2 years and no emplyoment for 15 percent of our people there isn't money to spend. Added is the national debt and the government is not in a position to spend without printing money or borrowing money.

-- Posted by skeeter on Mon, Jul 25, 2011, at 6:09 AM
  • SKEETER ...you missed part of it ....it was about the combination of the two not the government being any more or less than the private sector.THERE WAS ANOTHER GOOD ARTICLE IN SUNDAYS PAPER WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT ONE VERSUS THE OTHER WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WORKING IN CONCERT.

Do not get me wrong you can disagree but i hope you did not dismiss it because it talked about government.Anyhow i mentioned it for discussion sake and food for thought I am not subscribing to it.Fore there are free market solutions and there are government solutions and for us to function in the world there has to be both, they should compliment each other.Neither should be at the exspence of the society for which they serve. The article was talking more about the catch 22 that is not allowing the economy to move faster.Got to have it to spend it, got to spend it to create jobs,So who going to move first??????? If corporate America wont take a chance on the American people and spend on manufaturing etc what is the answer ??????? YOUR NOT GOING TO SPEND WHAT YOU DONT HAVE.You dont spend,i dont spend etc the economy slows to a crawl. This is a dual problem both private and government and only both can solve it. MY opinion,AND THE WRITTINGS ARE SAYING THE SAME. IM GLAD YOU READ IT THANKYOU

THE REPUBLICANS REJECTED THE BUDGETS,AND WERE DID 15% come from? There are pockets in the country that high but not the average,The government position that is today is no different than it was 10 yrs ago we can print money anytime we want and have.AND WE HAVE BEEN BORROWING UNDER EVERY PRESIDENT,WHEN WE ARNT PRINTING MONEY.The article sunday was about labor cost and why corporations ship jobs overseas, and that is about profits period, based on cheap labor. So we either become slaves or make it cheaper to live so that we can live on the wages paid overseas.DONT BLAME THIS ALL ON GOVERNMENT THE PRIVATE SECTOR IS NOT ANGELS HERE,i WOULD CALL IT GREED AT OUR EXSPENCE. WELL DONT WANT TO RANT.AGAIN THANKS FOR THE READ......

-- Posted by lamont on Mon, Jul 25, 2011, at 8:02 AM
  • THE dept ceiling doesnt have a lot to do with this mess.but if you think so its ok......how about they cut right now there pay???????? Not tomorrow but today. Then the person on ssi can see they are willing to do as they want us to do.We scream about regulation as long as no one gets hurt when they do we say were was the regulations, again a catch 22.That was exactly what happened on the minning accident ,gulf oil spill and the pipeline in yellowstone. The unions have made concesion and to say they havnt is not the truth. What is WANTED IS NO UNIONS and that is wrong.what is wanted is a return to treat the workers anyway we want.If we want wages DEPRESSED as they are in texas ask this.............. how will we live except hand to mouth,.........i dont think any of us here would find that acceptable.

there are ways to fix this and if both sides remain inflexable THEN YOU AND I WILL DO THE SUFFERING,NOT THEM.BOTH SIDES HAVE SHOWN NOTHING THAT MAKES ME BELIEVE THEY GIVE ONE HOOT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR HOUSE OR MINE.UNTIL THEY DO I WILL REMAIN PRETTY ANGRY AT BOTH.sO IF YOU WANT TO PICK SIDES I SAY YOUR NOT LOOKING AT THE WHOLE PICTURE.......

  • Lamont: I read the other day that the unemployment rate is actually 16.6 percent in the US. The Labor Department doesn't count people who have stopped looking for work, or under employed, in their data base. I have seen other numbers that are higher but I thought I'd cut some slack and just say 15 % as I was running late this morning.

  • CJW YOU ARE RIGHT...... SO LET ME TELL YOU WHY.......MS M WAS HERE BEFORE I WAS AND SHE HAS TRIED TO STOP WITH HOMMER AND WHEN SHE DID HE WENT RIGHT AT HER AGAIN . I SAW THAT, SHE HAS MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS.

I HAVE MADE MY OWN ATTEMPTS TO EXPLAINE. IT FALLS ON DEAF EARS,MY REMARKS ARE TARGETED AT THE FACT THAT IT IS DONE TO EVERYONE THAT DISAGREES OR WHO HAS SAID THEY ARE EITHER A DEM OR LEAN LEFT.I really think that you can talk, you can argue without always insulting peoples, integrity, intelligence, family, morals, call them morons, and ignorant, telling them what kind of parent they are, bringing in there children, wifes, calling them liers etc......those are TRULY PERSONAL ATTACKS FOR NO REASON. THE PEOPLE THAT ARE ATTACKED ARE NOT GOING TO BACK OFF.......NOW I AM NO SAINT AND DONT PROFESS TO BE ...... I AM SURE IF YOU ASK MS M WHY SHE STAYS WERE SHE IS AT SHE WILL TELL YOU.....SHE TOLD ME AND SHE CAN SPEAK FOR HERSELF.

THE ATTACKS ARE DESIGNED TO CONTROL THE DIALOGUE......WE ARE ALL STRONG PEOPLE WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE CONTROLED LIKE THAT.

YES my judgement can be biased when it comes to MS M BUT I HAVNT HEARD HER ATTACK AT THE LEVEL HOMMER DOES,HIS IS SNIDE AND PERSONAL ALL THE TIME.WHEN YOU POST THAT YOU despise and hold in contempt anyone who is not of your persuasion....what does that say??????what does that do??????????i say it antagonizes and keeps the pot boiling

    ASK MS M......OK??????

I run over all my words by clicking left on my mouse, it then highlights all the words I want to copy. While the words are still highlighted I right click on my mouse and it saves it (copy)

Then If I loose the words I just wrote because I went off the blog to check on something, I can come back and paste (right click again on your mouse) what I had just copied. This works as long as you don't close off your computer or it crashes

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Tue, Jul 26, 2011, at 4:01 PM
  • It was my fault for not telling you to select copy and then when your ready to paste select paste.

I think its so much better then hitting the ctrl + C.

I didn't know how to copy and paste until a friend explained it to me. lol !
