I Can't Believe What I Just Saw

Last night was a very rare moment for me. I watched CNN for a couple of hours and for ONCE, it all made sense! Although it was the initial one, that was a very refreshing GOP Presidential debate.

One of the candidates, and I forget which one now, made a closing comment that EVERY candidate UP there would be better than what we have now. And he was NEARLY right, in my opinion. (Gingrich is still a "politician's politician" in my book).

For ONCE around here........it looks like we might NOT have to settle for the same old "lesser of two evils" crap.

The first thing we heard from Herman Cain, was when he reminded us all right up front that he was NOT a politician.........which to MANY (including me), is a BIG PLUS. And he had some good things to say as the debate went along.

Tim Pawlenty had some pretty strong stuff from time to time as well.

Santorum......seems to have been one of the rightwing media "darlings", but he just impressed me as "another politician" last night.

Ron Paul isn't going anywhere.....but if they're SMART----whoever DOES win the White House, would probably be well-served to give Paul some kind of control over the Federal Reserve/IRS complex.

There is still something I do not trust about Romney, and I can't put my finger on it. All the polls have him way out in front, but I think that's gonna change before this is over.

Bachmann..........I thought SHE was the STAR last night! Every time she said or responded to ANYTHING, I could hear my own voice coming from HER. I identify with her though, being a devout "Tea-Partier" myself.

There is one more worth watching----who WASN'T there last night, as he hasn't committed to a "run" yet-------Governor Perry of Texas. If HE decides to toss HIS hat in the ring, this could get REALLY interesting.

This has NOT been a "job-creating" time here in America, but 37% (over 1/3) of all jobs that HAVE been created in this country, have been created in TEXAS, which would make Perry a FORMIDABLE contender if he runs.

It's early yet.....and the GOP campaign is just getting under way.

But so far, we've got a very good lineup, and a couple of them EASILY capable of beating Obama. The WORST one you could pick last night is considerablly BETTER than the RINO John McCain of 2008.

During the debate, King (the CNN "moderator")......being the liberal HE is and knowing that Cain is new to this "circus", tried to twist HIM up a little on the screening of Muslims before hiring, and I think Herman----not wanting to be painted as some kind of "religous racist" had to back-track and re-iterate a bit. He handled it well, but had it been ME, I'd have told King to mind his own business. Cain also said at one point that "NO businiess was "too big to fail," and he'd be better qualified than anyone ELSE up there to know that.

When asked about the gay marriage issue, Bachmann first gave her opinion (and CORRECTLY), about marriage being between a man and a women), but then went on to say that the Feds should stay OUT of it and let the states decide......not only on the gay issue, but on a number of things. She ALSO said that a president should consult the commanders first, before just assuming what the troops need, or need to do. But her big point was that the Feds need to stay OUT of crap that doesn't concern them!

I think that because of the immediate applause THAT drew, some of the OTHER candidates started slipping-in "states rights" remarks as well, wherever THEY could.

But there was a DEFINITE "Theme" last night about government screwing up everything it involves itself with, how we should let free enterprise run itself......and how Washington creates far more problems than it ever solves.

If "Uncle Ronnie" was looking down at that last night, he'd have certainly been smiling.

I wasn't as impressed last night as I thought I would be. However, I still like Herman Cain and Michelle Bachman too.

There is something about Rommney that is a little too polished and I can't put my finger on it either. He reminds me of a car salesman. Maybe he is just too good-looking and smooth.

Ron Paul would be great to be in charge of the Reserve and the IRS.

I was hoping for more direct answers instead of sound bites for campaigns.

The moderator didn't have a very good control of the time factor. But maybe, he was trying to make them all look rude.

I haven't had the chance to talk with David on his impressions. He usually spots something that I miss.

ZOOK......IF WHAT BACHMAN SAID WAS FOLLOWED IN 1949 THE SERVICES WOULD HAVE REMAINED SEGREGATED. AND THE ISSUES IS NOT DIFFERENT IT IS THE SAME.

SANTORIUM.........IS weak and he will go no where but he is there......ROMNNEY COMES OFF AS TOO POLISHED.......i think that is what bothers me ....to smooth,it is like he exudes THIS IS MY TURN HOW DARE YOU GUYS......... the more i see it the less I CARE FOR HIM. I also was not impressed with the debate last night.

First I didn't like how the debate was handled by the Moderator John King. Did we really tune in to know what the candidates favorite drink is.

No one actually answered the questions and the moderator didn't press them to get it answered.

They all attended the dance but didn't dance.

I wanted details on how they are going to make fixes. If they want Obamacare repealed then how would they go about doing that? If they don't want to raise the debt ceiling then what will they do if it doesn't get raised, how will it effect all of us?

It was a poor debate and so far I don't see anyone of them beating Obama at the polls.

There were only 3 that stood out for me, and that's a long shot. Gingrich, Romney and Cain.

"If you're dealing with something as big as Medicare and can't have a conversation with the country where the country thinks what you're doing is the right thing, you better slow down."

Romney

I liked when he said referring to Obama " if you would of called me first about your health care plan I would of told you it won't work"

Remember they have said Obama based his Obamacare on Massachusetts Romneycare

Cain

His comment sounds a little racist to me but I will give him the benefit of the doubt because he is new at this game....

He said he would ask "certain questions" to Muslims when interviewing them for a job but maintained, "It's not a litmus test."

"It is simply trying to make sure that we have people committed to the Constitution first in order for them to work effectively in the administration."

Try to understand homer I am an independent more so then you because I will vote Republican, Democrat or Independent......

I have never cheered for the Democrats, I think it was disgraceful for that Weiner guy to do what he did and I am very HAPPY he resigned.

I grew up with parents who were Democrats and I didn't agree with the way they were. In fact they were when I was younger very prejudice people. They didn't like people who were not the same faith as they were, they didn't like Black people, and they didn't like foreigners. They didn't like people who had less then they had. As they got older I guess they grew up because they changed in their old age... I left home when I was a teenager so I didn't have a lot of years of them influencing me

What I don't like is beating up a sitting President Republican or Democrat and I will give them benefit of doubt and I have more patience's then you could dream about. I have nerves of steel !!

Yes I do Homer I am more of an Independent then you, because I will vote for who I think would be the best no matter what party he/she is. Unlike you who said you would never vote Democratic.

My giddiness was for Bin Laden being killed and was happy for Obama since he gets so much criticism ......NOT cheering Democrats

I have never ever said anything bad about either Bush other then maybe referring something that happened under their watch. AND even after they left office I have never said anything as bad as what you and others say about Obama. I VOTED for both the Bush's

You allege that I am an Obama Cheerleader, but you seem to follow everything he say's much closer then I do.. You must be very intrigued by him, or maybe you Heart him....

I have a couple of idea's for you Homer, when we have a Democratic President or we don't have enough Republicans in congress for your liking why don't you just move out of the Country until we get a Republican in office or more in congress and if that doesn't work for you perhaps put your money in a Swiss bank Mr Independent?

I will have to agree on what he said

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's chief campaign strategist is dismissive of the Republicans who want his boss' job, saying they are eager to criticize the Democratic incumbent without offering substantive ways to help the country.

When they were debating it was more of what they would do but never gave detail how they would do it. Wanna place bets that even when we get closer to the election they will never say how they plan on making changes ? just a bunch of rhetoric

So, just a quick read of this, but what caught my eye was the comment about all the "lawyers" in the congresses. Does anyone know how many lawyers signed the Declaration of Independence, and fought back in the day? Don't paint with such a broad brush, as we can look at all the out of work farmers, it being winter and all, in the Idaho legislature, and make the same kind of assessment. Just my .02.

rush limbaugh is the spokesman for the tea party? i hardly think so. he got on board the tea party express before the midterms to a degree and expressed support for many tea party candidates, but he was neither a leader or a spokesman.

by the way, i believe it was june 17, 2010, that vice president biden declared the summer of economic recovery. so, it's been a whole year joe, where is the the blooming recovery?

and boehner goes and plays golf with obama. stupid move, plays right into their hands image-wise.

Your right Limbaugh was only one of the spokesperson's for the tea party movement... Glen Beck was the bigger voice along with his side kick Palin. Here's the link that I provided further up in the blogs showing where that statement came from.

OK so you don't want to answer my question ! Here's another one then. How's does the tea party get their information out to the public? When they group somewhere, like when they all met up in D.C. & Nevada how did the public of tea partiers know when that was going to take place and where it was going to take place?

Homer I was not trying to pin leader of the pack on anyone ! I was trying to get the truth on what spokesperson means.... Since you said they have NO spokesperson and if you go back and check out what I wrote, you will see I never said there was a leader for the tea party.......... I said "SPOKESPERSON"

Thank you Zook for an honest answer.... I said earlier that Palin and Beck were spokespersons for the Tea Party movement, and got the answer that there was NO spokesperson...

The copy and paste job I posted said that Limbaugh was the spokesperson for the tea party which I knew was wrong...... He was only another speaker and not as big as Palin and Beck are in the Tea Pary
