  • Do you watch Top Shot? You would get a kick out of their use of guns.

  • I had a colt 45 a long time ago when I lived in the D.C. area

  • I remember the 1911s we had in the army. The pistols had been disassembled and assembled and the parts interchanged so much that they rattled when you shook them but you could count on any one of them to fire. Privately I've owned a couple. I now own a Springfield 1911 chambered in 38 Super. Great pistol, moves a 125 grain bullet at around 1400 fps which the books show as a tich more energy than the 45 acp. The accuracy is phenomenal (accurized of course). I have to reload, factory ammo shoots all over the place. Competition silhouette shooters use it a lot and I see why.

I do agree that a 9mm is about the same as flicking buggers.

  • I don't know if it was illegal back then. It was during the time Martin Luther King was killed and there were riots happening every where. My husband worked nights at the pentagon and I slept with it loaded under my pillow...lol ! There was a lot of things that went on, doors were getting busted open even in the apt building we lived in. It was a very unsafe time..... And this was all before my sister in law was murdered and my brothers little boy shot....

  • No I don't have it any more.

  • The day I bought my Kimber Custom II .45, I unloaded TWO mags into ONE playing card at 25 yds. THAT is American-made quality right out of the box. Thousands of rounds later, and not ONE FTF. BTW Zook, last 1911 Springer I saw had "Brazil" stamped on the underside of the slide housing in front of the trigger guard. They don't get my buisness anymore. What gives?

  • Yes Sir. The factory is known for using only the best steel, but I'd rather pay our boys in Yonkers NY. Google Springfiled and Brazil...

  • Yes. and my New Vaquero .357 does feel like an engine block! No issues with Ruger at all!

  • Absolutely. Smithies in my opinion, are WAY over priced, but Ruger does a great job of making fantastic weapons without over-charging.

I almost bought the long colt, but opted for the .357, so I can "plink" with cheap .38 rounds. Now I'm shopping for a good western belt and holster rig. Can't decide if I want a period-correct high mount, or the movie-style drop holster. Any input on good leather crafters?
