  • thank you frank......you renewed my faith that what i have been saying is real...........it takes us all,it takes cooperation,it takes compromise,it takes a national consience, all we the people have gotten is greed, and a selfish attitude that says my bottom line to the stockholders........we are not here to work from cradle to grave as deemed needed by the corporations..........together we make this nation,we move forward as a peoples........we can do this......as soon as we stop fighting over idealogys ......and get to the lets get it done......thankyou again............

Frank, here is a graph of how the now $1 Trillion was used. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/graphic/2010/08/10/GR2010081006714....

In my opinion, some if not most people who had a problem with the stimulus plan thought it was a rush job project. Maybe your sense that the money was wasted is, in part, because it was a panic program? I don't know but it got me interested enough to start looking into it deeper.

Maybe we needed a 1 $Trillion investment into our modern day Civilian Conservation Corps?

  • Would someone please let me know when the "Blame Bush Expiration Date" is...nearly two years...please stop it.

I am going to assume that you (Frank) are not a business owner and don't have to deal with decisions about who to keep and what direction to head your business in...or meet the mountains of 'well-intended' regulations that the government blindly spews forth.

Both Frank and Lamont neglected to address the fact that no one in this country requires you to work from cradle to grave...nothing stopping you from working for others or starting your own business...quit blaming others.

You both seemed to gloss over the looming (Obama) tax hikes that will hit.

The only cooperation has been with the corruption these bills include to buy off each other for the vote (DEMOCRATS). The only time cooperation is being mentioned is when liberals get there own way...which they have for 20 some months and look at where we are...can you imagine where we are going...

  • I believe the President is doing all he can to help this country, it is too bad others are not.

I received an email last night saying how Health Care reform will cause a 3.5% tax on all home sales. Incorrect, it will only be for those "high wage earners" ($250,000 or more a year) of which I am surely not one and quite frankly don't know anyone that is. Also I have no sympathy whatsoever for them and whether their taxes increase or not. Considering what I live on they have plenty of money. I would be more than willing to switch places and pay the higher taxes!

And thank you for being open and honest about your "money grubbing capitalist pig" outlook on life.

I don't think I advocated changing anything or imposing any kind of control on anyone. To me the United States of America has always been the place where people come together for the common good. I believe we are only as strong as our weakest member. Perhaps that is a "socialist" concept, I don't know I haven't read much about the definition of "socialist" Is it a dirty word? Somehow the fact that you capitalized it makes me think so.

Anyway, I think I was trying to make the point that I don't feel any sympathy for someone making a good deal of money. I understand that you work hard to make that kind of money but please also understand that I don't have to feel sorry for you because you pay more taxes on that kind of money. Isn't paying more taxes worth the privlege of getting to be a "money grubbing capitalist pig" here in America?

  • both my children have super educations and what is said is true.........however oppertunity was the driver that made that engine work........what i am saying is..... this all people want to work.....i dont know many who dont..... but we have to have jobs to provide and not ones that dont allow people to survive.....both my children will pay the higher tax (250.000.00) bracket but they are the exception, and they live in new york which means there overhead is higher but thats there choice.......neither one has argued about the expiration of the bush tax cuts .......they prepared and planned for it........what they did get hurt on was the market down turn that cost them thousands in there 401ks.......and both said they were blind sided........they would like to see companys getting tax cuts to be returned to the us or no tax breaks i agree...........now a question ........do you think it would have been in the countrys best intrest to just let the bottom fall out ???????? and why ???????

  • Ah, Mr. Morano, you are a brave, brave man. You used "Kudos" and "Obama" in the same title sentence! Kudos to you...8 years of garbage does take exponentially more time to decompose and/or biodegrade and, apparently, a majority of the population felt Obama was the right man for the job 2 years ago.

    It is a double-edged

sword when the mere mention of a name invokes such passion. Unfortunately, it is those who would choose to slander and deface that make spectacles of themselves and stand in the forefront of forums such as this.

It does make for entertaining banter...if only there could be a brief discussion on "How to Make a Point and Exude a Modicum of Intelligence by Using That Fancy Tool Called Spell Check (or possibly by knowing how to spell in the first place)"

    You said:

    Does that honestly seem right?

I agree that hard work and intelligence should be rewarded but by how much? You talk about taxes being "scaled" but I looked at Sarah Palin's tax return when she was running for vice-president and percentage wise she paid about 7% in taxes. So even though she made a ton more money than I did, I paid more in taxes, a little over 10% of my income. We had similar deductions but she had more dependents so it isn't apples and apples but still it didn't seem to me that she was paying any more in taxes than I am.

I don't believe laziness should be supported. I believe everyone that accepts help from the government should have to do drug testing, community service, whatever they can do and if nothing else sweep floors in the local government building or pick up trash along the highway. But I don't believe in bending over backwards to reward someone who wants to have another shiny car or thinks they need a house with 11,000 square feet. I also don't believe that helps our economy. Give 1000 dollars to 10 people and if each of them buys a washing machine that is 10 washing machines. Give 1000 dollars to 1 person and if that one person buys a washing machine that is 1 washing machine. I don't believe that tax cuts to the upper 5% create jobs because the current tax cuts have been out there since the Bush administration and look where we are today.

I favor a flat tax, nothing but dependent exemptions, what do you think?

    MacInIdaho.

The expiration date for Blame Bush ends when the near destruction of our economy, which fell under Bush's watch, ends.

I made no statement about working cradle to grave so I'm not blaming others.

I do believe and correct me if I'm wrong, those regulations and taxes you complain of were already in place when Obama took office, and I do understand what the cost to business owners will be regarding the "Health Care Reform". The best thing that can happen is that the Republicans will take over the majority in Congress and add some balance to the administrations policies. I would hope that we'd see "Health Care Reform" wind up in the toilet, but I don't believe the Republicans have the guts to trash it. It seems that no one ever undoes the bad decisions the incumbent or former President makes in the form of legislation.

If you think I'm a proponent of President Obama, you're wrong. I just don't think he's had enough time(1 year and 10 months) to undo Bush's mistakes.

Hey Frank just how long are you and the Dem's going to blame Bush for everything that is wrong today. Bush made his mistakes like everyone else. Remember this the Dem's were in control the last 2 years of Bush's time in office but the Dem's don't want to take any credit for what they did wrong but kepting saying going to be changes and nothing changed and still hasn't. Obama doesn't have clue how to be President and it shows, he has never controled anything until now and has done a poor job of it. Repub's are much better but you can't keep blaming Bush for everything.

That should have read the Repub's are not much better at fixing things. Health care was done behind closed doors and none of those that voted it in even took the time to read it, what a way to pass Health care reform.

I don't normally get in on this stuff to many fights start this way, but you are so right Bazook, time to quit blaming Bush for everything, just look at Obama, folks he bends over to foreign country's, give.s our emenies gifts and the Queen junk DVD's what a smart idiot. He has cut Education and now wants to put the blame someplace else and call for longer school years like that is going to fix the problem on our ecomony.

  • Here's a sample of what Obama did in his first week in office I copied and pasted as I am to tired to write it all out.... Also for your Info.... I am not a Democrat and by the way the Republicans were in on writing the Health Care Reform. It was a lie saying it was done behind closed doors.

There's a lot more that you people can't seem to see or have a selective memory on the positive things he has done. Oh and by the way he is a Christian Man

The best thing that can happen to our Country is get some Republicans into those seats so we will have a balanced congress. Just hope they will be more experienced then what I have been seeing in the news

    * Froze the salaries for top White House staff members. This is a largely symbolic act, but might be an important one.

    * Set a deadline for the closing of Guantanamo Bay. Some of his supporters would say this is a great thing because they believe it operates as something from the Dark Ages. Others believe this characterization to not be true, and that no plan will be put place to determine what to do with the prisoners. Time will tell.

    * Fast-tracked the process to apply new fuel standards to 2011 car models AND initiated steps to allow California to set its own standards for auto emissions that are stricter than that of the Federal government. Again, this is a measure that some of his supporters hail as a grand step forward, while his detractors (or flamers) point out that it could provide an additional severe drag on the economy, especially in car manufacturing areas.

    * Signed a detailed executive order to ban torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners.

    * Asked the military leadership to engage in additional planning necessary to execute a responsible military draw down from Iraq.

    * Released the interrogation memos without consulting the Bush staff and/or Bush about it. And they were only partially released some of the information in the memos were not made public.

    * Signed an executive order that restored a 30-day time frame for former presidents to review records before they are released. It also eliminated the right for the vice president or family members of former presidents to do the reviews.

    * Signed an executive order that requires that appointees sign forms saying that they were not hired because of political affiliations or contributions. This is far from an unbeatable measure, but is an important early step towards cleaning up governmental hiring policies. It is easier to prove someone lied when their signature is right next to the statement in question.

    * Signed an order banning gifts from lobbyists and banning anyone from working in an agency they had lobbied in previous years. Promptly made the order toothless by immediately granting a waiver to a former defense lobbyist.

    * Lifted a ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide abortion information.

    * Granted his first TV interview as president to Al-Arabiya, a channel described as a "voice of moderation" to the Middle East. His supporters call this a very smart move to help angered nations and groups feel a bit less cast aside, and let them know that they need not resort to violence to be made a part of the world discussion. Detractors point out that this is the type of thing Neville Chamberlain would have done, though a TV interview and "the Munch Agreement" are leagues apart.

    Bazookaman

I don't understand where some get the idea that Bush added little to the National Debt. It's fuzzy math at best. The debt when George W. Bush took office was $5.727 Trillion when he left it was $10.627 Trillion.

I wish that I was as optimistic as you concerning what the Republicans were going to do if they gained a majority in a little over a month. Considering the Republicans are just as much a tax and spend party, I just don't see them reversing anything. Why should they when they can continue to use Obama's policies and legislation until 2014.

Just how many years in a roll that Congress just can't pass a budget for the new fiscal year 1 Oct. If they can't get their pork in then so much for a budget which isn't worth the paper its written on anyway. Another year and another stop gap to keep the government running. To busy have to get out of DC and see if they can keep their jobs comes Nov. Can't be bothered to take care of the tax break extension until have the Nov vote, just another way to try to keep their job and not vote before Nov.
