I've lived in Mtn Home since 1989, so that's...hold on...I'm thinking...WOW! Exactly 25 years! Boy, I think I can almost declare myself an Idahoan. But my family is British and I grew up in Louisiana around lots of other Brits so I still think I'm a little bit of a mutt. Those of you who have been around awhile may remember when I used to blog all the time. My opinions weren't very accepted and there was always an issue because I work for the county. That really wasn't fair because I NEVER blog at work! And I am still entitled to my opinions and thoughts about city and county issues, right? However, it stirred a lot of pots and those pots certainly can make a lot of noise! Since I'm a writer, I took what I wrote in my blog seriously so I spent a lot of time researching things which got exhausting to do when you're not even get a paycheck for it. So I stopped. That was a blessing to many! However, to this day, I still have people stop me and ask me why I wasn't blogging and t! hey missed it. I've missed it. Mainly because there are so many issues that come up and I have no voice except around my friends and I'm sure they are tired of it.

More than a half million petitions were delivered yesterday to House Members in front of the Capitol. the first major vote of our new congress showed that they mean business.

The House voted 245-189 in favor of repealing the healthcare reforms implemented last year. All 242 House Republicans voted for repeal, as did three Democrats.

All 189 "no" votes were cast by Democrats.

Everyone who signed that petition were a big part of making history! Now we go on to continue the fight in the Senate--call it "Round Two".

According to a recent survey conducted by Washington Post, it is a very close fight.

Survey research suggests that, while Americans are overwhelmingly supportive of healthcare reform, they are not sure the reform cobbled together by President Obama and the last Congress is the proper fix. According to a new Washington Post/ABC News poll, the country is divided three ways: 33 percent for complete repeal of the measure adopted last year, 35 percent for partial repeal and 30 percent for no repeal. However, there are plenty of surveys that show that there are more people who want the law to be left alone.

"The GOP is calling it the Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act. Democrats, defending the bill, argued that covering 30 million additional people necessarily creates jobs in the health care sector and reduces the burden on small businesses. And repealing it would add more than $200 billion to the federal deficit, according to the Congressional Budget Office. "I want to just advise people watching at home playing the now-popular drinking game, if you take a shot whenever the Republicans say something that's not true, please assign a designated driver," Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) said." (Huffinton Post)

The fight must continue to repeal this monster healthcare reform lie and look other alternatives which will not bankrupt our Kid's future while still helping those who need insurance. Talk it out with everyone and let's get more support.

How can repealing a bill that's taking more money out of the American taxpayer's pockets, create an additional $200 billion in deficit? I can't afford health care now and I DON'T have a pre-exiting medical condition. Where's our AFFORDABLE health care. More smoke screen so my tax money goes to the "less fortunate ones" so they can have health care. (i.e. MORE WELFARE)Then I'm going to be required by law to carry health care, that I can't afford now? You can't get blood from a turnip, but I am QUITE sure our politicians in Washington will figure out a way. How bout we fix the problem. Our overly expensive drugs, medical care, and health insurance. Make them lower their prices instead of making the working tax payers foot the bill for everyone else. Have our congressmen and representitives use our (the American taxpayers) available health care! It would probably be fixed tomorrow.

One more quick question... I looked up the population in this country and according to our latest census there are 314.214 million people in this country. An additional 30 million are going to be covered under this bill. That's 9.5% of our population. What about the other 90.5%???? How many of them are covered now, and what is this bill doing for them???

I cannot make changes alone but I will have had enough when our economy changes for the better.

When houses start selling again, when people who are out of work get jobs, and we have a do able Health Care Plan in place. When Republicans and Democrats can work together, when the crime rate goes down. When people care about people no matter what their skin color is or no matter how rich or poor they are. When people stop judging those they don't understand.

That's when I will say I had enough

Thankfully Obamacare won't be repealed. It's a great topic for conservatives in 2012. There will have to be another house cleaning in 2012 and then it will go along with all the wasteful spending.

The bill won't be repealed. This will give republicans a piece of what they need to push against in 2012. Its very fustrating that niether the Dems or Reps realize that it wasn't a shift to the right that happened. It was a permanent awakening of fiscal conservatives. I don't know a single person that minds helping people that need it. But most of the people I know are just trying to feed and clothe themselves and their family. They get a little perturbed when they are forced to kick in to support some artist that paints themselves brown, lays down in a corner, takes a picture and calls their masterpiece "the fecal position". The days of taking our money at the point of a gun and expecting to be re-elected are over.

THE BILL WILL DIE IN THE SENATE

1- I read zooks research and i wonder if some staffer inserted some of those things or wether the originators WANTED those things in there i personally have a problem with them

2-The bill needs serious revisions,it will get that .with that said there are some fundamentally great things in it

3- we have been paying for others health care for generations. It will not stop anytime soon.We need something that is going to take up the slack for that and yet be fair to all.

4- MEDICAL CARE AND PREVENTION IS COST PROHIBITIVE AS IT STANDS TODAY.

5- THE IDEA HERE I THINK....is to get us to prevention thru maintenance that will in a generation drastically cut cost by having a healthier society,,,,now for some thats a mouthfull .THAT IS A REALISTIC GOAL.......and if it can be achieved will benifite our country,our children and grands.

Wow, now here is some interesting debate! Rooting out the back n forth arguments about one's maturity and sanity, I think that the majority of you out there agree that this bill should be repealed and another plan that is less expensive, less nationalized and more People-friendly should be put in it's place. As long as it is a plan that every single person with a vote has had the chance to read. Now I know that there is no way to make a bill that covers everyone's concerns. However, compromise and majority rules will bring forth a workable replacement. Thanks for the spirited debate. I enjoyed reading it all.

THERE ARE GOD AND BAD PARTS to all political systems....the trick is to use what is good and get rid of the bad.We have used socialistic parts for decades,the system is out of balance on that i would agree.......THAT DOESNT MAKE IT ALL BAD.OUR systm of government will fix itself without tearing itself apart,problen is can we the little person survive it.

Dog & pony show as I SEE IT.i dont think that you can expect anything else when you get people in power laying down threats.When those threats are made in the public forum designed to belittle the president i dont think anyone should hold there breath.To be truthfull with you zook the last couple of days have been emotional for me,I LISTENED TO REP BACHMAN and i heard people on this blog. I spent years fighting what these people advocate and i realized not a whole lot has changed.I am probally going to become a weapon owner and the fact that I am feeling that way really bothers me. got to go .

Zook this is not about the tea party .......this is about someone who speak from the jenre and says........SLAVERY DIDNT HAPPEN.........that is indigative of and attitude,You can see that being said in her last 2 public statments ,prior to the presidents speech and her .rebuttal..I understand were the tea party is comming from,and you explained it eloquently. REP BACHMAN is not the person you need upfront. SHE is insulting and antagonistic to any group that she cares to single out.She and RUSH SEEM TO HAVE A NACK FOR BIGOTED COMMENTS.THOSE COMMENTS ARE MEANT TO INSULT AND DEMEAN,We have people who do the same here, i dont want to be part of that,like i said im getting angry.Its like the person who says go getem and then when something happens they say what? Having read her response to the state of the union speech I can't see where Rep Bachman is saying anything that can be attributed to being a racist, however I haven't read her two speeches before that. I know in Iowa she spoke of her respect for the founders of the country. I think I have come to the conclusion that a conservative woman or women scare a lot of people and they seem to be unfairly attacked. I can't imagine how they stand up to some of the things out there. I know Michelle was a foster parent for 20 or more kids, some of them being different races.

HER? she then went on to point fingers at REP ELLIS from her own state (he is muslim).I for one was origanally willing to say she had mispoke or was misquoted.HOWEVER THE MORE SHE TALKS THE CLEARER IT GETS,I dont care if she is a conservative,she needs to be called to task for her attacks that could ruin peoples lifes for her political gain.Do you happen to know how much people get paid to be a foster parent? IT IS NOT CHUMP CHANGE and if you want it you take whoever so it is not and all encompassing yard stick.HER speeches are posted on the net.

Please recognize that there are some conservative things as advocated that seem to be totally self serving,as does some liberal idealogys, this is not a oneway street.There should be TERM LIMITS period.EVERYONE OF THEM LOSE TOUCH WITH US SOONER OR LATTER SOME SOONER THAN OTHERS.DO you actually think she is doing US ANY GOOD? I think we saw term limits enacted in November. I read all I could find on Bachman and Ellison and find Bachman to have a limited knowledge of history but not a racist by any means. I find Ellison to be a shady character and probably a racist from his own words and actions. Term limits would be the only way to get rid of him, it looks like, as he is in a safe district.

THANKYOU SKEETER.I did some reading and i know how Rep Ellison got to were he is at.IN MY HUMBLE OPINION HE SHOULD NOT BE THERE.I dont care about FARAHKAN,however his forigien contacts raise serious questions.FROM WHAT I KNOW ABOUT SECURITY CLEARANCES I WOULD SAY INVESTIGATION OF REP ELLISON IS ONGOING and juifiablY so.REP ELLISON should have been arrested right after 9/11 There is something going on here.TAXES,LEADING TO DRIVERS LICENSE, I DONT THINK HE RESPECTS OUR LAWS goes to crediabilty.THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM IN CONGRESS AND THE SENATE.i would be the last to say guilty by association but there is more than that here.BUT innocent till proven guilty.i would vote guilty.

THIS will not change my mind about REP BACHMAN.she does nothing good for the tea party movement.SHE NEEDS TO GET HER FACTS AND HER REHETORIC STRAIGHT.my opionion.

ZOOK... you have said nothing that i havnt taught especially about children.In the 70's there was a group of us who use to go to strike every sunday we would take any kid in the neiberhood with us.get your swim suit and get in the car.needless to say we were a very multicolored group.Zook the things that were said to us about us and to those children were hatefull to say the least.Some of those children are still here, adults now,and they remember us they talk to me often.I KNOW HOW THEY RAISE THERE CHILDREN.I HAVE SEEN CHANGE i also have seen those who have not changed ,will not change and still impact peoples lives...EXAMPLE there is a rather nice establishment in town that a lot of different people frequent.....not to long ago some people came in and the owner was pointed out,and as loud as he could(perception) ONE OF THE PEOPLE SAYS "that monkey owns this place". now I KNOW THAT FEELING IT HAPPENED TO ME TO MANY TIMES TO GO INTO. When my GRANDAUGHTER was confronted about her Granfather being BLACK BY AN ADULT that tells you were we are at.I by no means think every white person i meet is a bigot anyone who has that impression is sorely mistaken,I donot feel persecuted,HOWEVER when the slurs, innuendos and slights.come about i get more than my share and ONE IS TO MANY.DR KING said turn the other cheek thats was his way I will NOT.MY HERITAGE DOES NOT START AND STOP IN AMERICA.MY daughter in N.Y.IS MARRIED TO A WHITE,WITH 3 GRANS THERE ,MY DAUGHTER HERE IS WHITE MARRIED TO A PURTO RICAN,MY WIFE IS WHITE WE UNDERSTAND DISCRIMINATION.WE KNOW WHEN IT HAPPENS AND WE ALSO KNOW THAT MOST PEOPLE DONT AND THOSE THAT DO GET AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE NONE OF THERE FRIENDS WILL SAY THATS WRONG.PEER GROUP PRESSURE.
