  • Any regulations that are enacted now will be undone or adjusted when a Conservative/Republican administration takes power. One can be assured that it will happen in due time. I know this dampens your world-is-ending, cataclysmic speech but so goes life.

Letting community leaders have a say is retarded. I know some dislike that word but that seems like digressing rather than progressing. Community leaders have different motives. Those who own the license are out to make a few bucks. How they make that money is legit. The types that listen to Rush, Savage, Hannity are always going to feel that they need a sense of community. To know that they are not alone. Knowing that they are not the majority they seek consoling elsewhere. This is not to say they are wrong but any minority will seek audience among themselves.

Limiting the length of the license will bring the price up. This would not be wise of anyone in power at this present point in time.

I dont know if I believe in this totally but if it is true, then they are being insecure. Anything good or worthy of advertising should be defended but also can stand up to criticism. If one is afraid of criticism then apparently it is not that great after all.

  • There really should be a test before a person is allowed to vote...or run for office. That would solve many of our current problems.

  • BTW: Bazook; you were also right about: his intentions are to impose fees EQUAL to the annual operating costs of each conservative radio station and to impose fines of up to 250 million dollars. What that means is that Coporate Broadcasters will pay more fees which will be used to set up new local stations. This "diversity-Czar" will regulate these new stations that will be funded by the fees taken from the commercial broadcast stations. Again with the rob from the "rich" to give to the poor. The poor being the private little broadcast companies that can't compete with the big guys. And all of those new stations will fall into line with what the new Czar deems "fair".

Where is it that you find this Information? Hopefully not from a corp. run media outlet that is regulated by for profit advertisers and conservative Christians. Because often times they tend to stretch the truth in their favor. And besides all that nonsense the new administration released a statement a week or so after Obama was sworn in, "that he would not be in-acting the fairness doctrine".... why? Because it doesn't make any sense when there is a 50/50 split on right verses left media. There is no majority, on either side. Both sides are just nuts!

  • FYI: When I research someone or something, I go to as many sources as I can. I read articles from the Washington Post, the New York Times and many sources. If the person has written anything, then I also read pieces of that if not all of it. I try to let sources be known and I keep them saved with what I write but I don't always have the time to list it with my comments or blog. I read the bios from their own websites or their organization's website. This guy wrote the plans he has and you can read for yourself. http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2007/06/pdf/talk_radio.pdf Enjoy the read.

  • I myself attend college and they dont push the liberal agenda down our throats. Economics can get political but my professors have up til now stayed away from that.

I know some people view this as the end of civilization. I heard the same garbage during the Bush times when the Patriot Act was hot news. All of our freedoms were going to evaporate and the movie Minority Report was going to become reality. Hmmm.. has not yet so when is this cataclysmic change going to happen?

Beliefs are one thing, putting them into action can be another. When it is put into action, I will take notice. There have been politicians in the past with some pretty radical ideas that have never put them into action.

Yes, I read the whole thing. I pride myself on not overreacting and being logical. Life is full of conspiracy theories and impulsive, emotional speeches. Not every one of them is worth getting worked up over. People's mouths never quit running. Not every word they say do they back up with action.

And again socialist wouldn't try to save capitalism by bailing out all the failed banks and corps like the dems did. They would have let them completely fail, take the buildings and start fresh. And speaking of your tea party protest, now that they have gone to the level of fascist showboating what with having to carry guns along with signs. That's not a protest, that's a threat. You guys are pushing the pride and paranoia to the level of out-of-control reactionaries and it's going to screw-up everything you people have been fighting. It's not like the liberals are frightening trolls that need to be shot. Your crew is playing right into their hands with the gun issue and it will give them the ammo needed to stiffen the gun regulations and paper trails into a harder path then they already are. And fatalism is believing that things only get worse so why bother. That is fatalism.

But anyway, after work I'll read through that link you provided just to be courteous and out of curiosity. Thank you.

It was at a "Town Hall" meeting in arizona. There was a group among the protesters that brought rifles and one guy with a tacticle weapon. And Obama was hosting the meeting. The guns weren't concealed, they were carrying them like hand bags.

Kim the link you provided was broken could you just give me the actual site name so I may google it?

    Thanks,

The right is unknowingly or knowingly, not sure which yet, escalating public debate into a civil war. I read another story yesterday about a man from Israel at a town hall meeting, in California, praising the public health care provided to all citizens in Israel and some conservative lady "Heil Hitler-ed" him and started making fun of him. That was even after he told the lady that he was Jewish. There was a video of the whole incident as well. I wish I would have saved the link to post here, but I'm a nit-wit. But anyway it shouldn't be hard to find if googled. That's just the kind of ugly-headed stuff I see from the right, which delegitimizes their cause for me. Civilised discourse has turned into soup opera dramatics.

I'm just as guilty in the course of things, but I can admit it. I'm trying not to be so ugly in my beliefs but sometimes people make it hard to be compassionate towards theirs.

Sorry the hitler comment happened in Vegas. But the video is up on You tube. Take a gander, is it real or faked? Are any of the ugly reactions from the left or right real or faked? It's like reality t.v. on a mass scale. There's no telling whats reality anymore,.....

Question Censored, were you at the meeting? Did you interview the lady in the video? Did she SAY she was a conservative, Republican? OR could she have been one of the conservative Democrats or one of the liberals that are just as fed up with the lies and rhetoric coming from this administration and their minions in congress? The protests being denounced by Obama et al aren't just the RWE's. There is a rising current of AMERICANS left and right alike that want the same thing...LESS GOVERNMENT. Looks like alot of libs are awakening from the kool-aid induced haze and are seeing what IS the truth. Do we have the hope from YOU censored?

  • Here is the website that has the pdf of his report called:"The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio" http://www.americanprogress.org/ Also, as I research each Czar, I start by just putting in their name and weed out the personal blogs; reading newspaper articles, organization affliations and the person's own web page if they have one. I try to read as many different articles and documents that they themselves have published.

Bouncer and Bazooka: Did you two even look for the video?

And congress has been compromising back and forth on the healthcare issue since it got put on the plate. But who cares, right? Maybe those strange politicians should have been reading through the thing instead of going on vacation. Then they could have an "informed" opinion one way or the other instead of relying on hearsay and scare tactics. Or they've forgotten how to read and only understand cash for votes.

I thought the "organized protester" were all paid by the health insurance companies, armed by China and bussed in by the oil tycoons? The wireless signal must be crossed somewhere?

Thanks again for the link Mrs. Kovack.

Just finished reading that well laid out study, which clearly shows that conservatives own the air-waves. I guess that clears up the whole "liberal media conspiracy"? It's funny, some of the stations sighted in the study that were labeled as progressive/liberal always seemed conservative to me. But I'm just a dumb working-class slug, so what do I know.

    Thanks again Mrs. Kovac
