Obama Banned Executive Order 13435Posted Monday, March 16, 2009, at 12:20 AM
I read a very interesting piece of information. You see, I have voiced my anger at two-faced policitians before and now we have the King of Two-Faced in the White House. Obama contridicts himself constantly. He has always voted against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, a piece of legislation designed to affirm the full human rights of babies who managed to survive abortions. He always had a great excuse for why but truth be told, he is the most pro-abortion president ever. I stated in a previous blog I wrote that it was wrong to fund research using embryonic stem cells when there was perfectly good research showing that we didn't need it. In other words, scientist have found ways to produce stem cells that act like the embryonic ones. Obama knew that! He didn't care. Below you can read a perfect example of it. Read on and see for yourself.
Obama's Stem Cell Disgrace, by Guy Benson From Townhall.com "With a great deal of fanfare, President Obama signed an executive order on stem cell research last week. The most controversial element of his new directive is a short, harmless-looking clause that you probably haven't heard about. People on all sides of the stem cell controversy should call this particular decision what it is: A disgrace. President Bush's 2001 executive order did not "ban" embryonic stem cell research, as much of the public believes. He simply ensured that the privately funded destruction of new human embryos--nascent human life--would not be encouraged by the promise of taxpayer dollars for future research. In other words, embryonic stem cell research could continue, but the government stopped short of providing cash incentives for an unproven practice that many taxpayers believed to be morally abhorrent. Obama's "uniter" persona also assured Americans that he'd continue to support "promising research of all kinds, including groundbreaking research to convert ordinary human cells into ones that resemble embryonic stem cells." This research has proven extraordinarily promising, especially after a dramatic breakthrough in 2007: Scientists in Japan and the US discovered they could engineer human skin cells to mimic embryonic stem cell. This could allow the scientific community to probe the benefits of these cells without actually destroying human embryos. To some, this development rendered the controversy moot, and vindicated President Bush's moral and ethical caution. At the very least, it was an enormous scientific step forward that all observers could unabashedly celebrate. For this reason, the previous administration--you know, the divisive ideologues who hated science--issued executive order 13435 in 2007 that directed federal funding toward alternative, non-controversial human pluripotent stem cell research. That brings us to the nasty, gratuitous, and nearly entirely unpublicized action President Obama took amidst the hoopla of overturning Bush's policies. Right after he told the country he supported for alternative, non-destructive stem cell research, Obama signed the actual order. Buried at the very bottom of the document was this line: "Executive Order 13435...is revoked." That's right, he abolished President Bush's funding for the type of stem cell research upon which everyone could agree. Just like that. In the face of yet another grotesque Obama policy decision on the issue of life, famed bioethicist Wesley J. Smith pondered a similar question. On his blog, he wondered why on earth Obama would take the totally unnecessary action he did in undoing excutive order 13435. Smith's conclusion: "I can think of only two reasons for this action...First, vindictiveness against all things "Bush" or policies considered by the Left to be "pro life;" and second, a desire to get the public to see unborn human life as a mere corn crop ripe for the harvest. So much for taking the politics out of science." Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
I've lived in Mtn Home for over 20 years. I love my city and my country. Since I am a writer, my decision to blog here seemed appropriate. I enjoy acting so I've been blessed with the opportunity to work on some independent films and with Prairie Dog Productions and Bogus Creek Ranch. I hope that something I have to write about has some value for others or just amuses someone.

First off, every president we've been blessed with in this country has been two-faced in one way or another. Second, how is revoking an old policy about stem cell research funding two-faced, when the new policy will fund the FULL SCOPE OF EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH? Not just the limited study. The whole article stinks of hypocrisy and Obama hating.
{Now when your thinking about this topic of human eggs, you need to realize the if there was one right here >.< on that dot you'd still have to use a high powered microscope to see it.} Moving on.
Then there's the fact that the embryo's that are used in this research come from "In Vitro Fertilisation Clinics". These are embryo's that were collected for use by specific people that cannot get pregnant by natural means, for one reason or another. The embryo's that are not used by the patient are tossed out if they are not going to be used by that person in the future. (like thrown in a trash can) Now, here's another fact, embryo's that have been fertilized but "remain outside" of the "womb" will "never" under any circumstances, form into a fully formed human baby. But they will produce human stem cells under laboratory conditions.
So which is worse? Throwing away a embryo that would otherwise sit in a freezer and never be used? Or use it for research that could possibly cure every-possible aliment known too human kind? Like cancer or alzheimer's and perhaps grow much needed organs.
Or maybe we should go into the ethics of freezing human embyo's?
See the problem I have with this topic is that you and other christians/pro-lifers, use abortion in the same article as stem cell reasearch. When they are two seperate topics. One is a Baby and the other is just a series of cells.
Was that nice enough for you?
I wont go on about abortion. There has to be a reason that stem cell research is still a viable topic. If it was so moronic and unnecessary it would have never became known to the non-scientific public. There has to be some marginal or complete validity to it.
Pharmaceutical companies won't stay rich if actual cures start popping up from stem cell research. And that's about it in a nutshell.
What if it was your child suffering from an ailment that could be cured as a result of stem cell research....Spinal Cord Injuries, Parkinsons, and one incurable disease very NEAR to me, Juveniele Diabetes. Oh my, the drug companies would suffer from curing diseases, but, it would be a great day for me at least to not have to give one more dime to them.....unless you suffer from a disease that could possilby be cured from said research, you should think about what you are saying regarding this issue. Just one persons opinion.
And do you think you could give our President a chance? Its been like 50 days.....it will take time and money to fix our country. The Bush Presidency cost us millions, and now it will surely cost us millions to get out of it. We cannot let our banks fail, or, it will be another great depression no doubt!!! A bit off topic, but, thats all I have to say about that!
YOU HAVE MISSED THE POINT! WHAT OBAMA DID WAS ORDER FUNDING FOR EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH AND "Executive Order 13435...is revoked." REVOKED! DON'T YOU SEE WHAT THAT MEANS. HE STATED THAT HE WANTED TO SUPPORT ALL STEM CELL RESEARCH IN ONE BREATH YET SIGNED A FORM THAT REVOKES FUNDING FOR THE RESEARCH BEING DONE FOR THE CELLS THAT MIMIC EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS.
Executive Order 13435 gave funding to continue that research and it was revoked! This research has been successful in producing the stem cells that we want to do all those wonderful things, "like curing cancer or alzheimer's and perhaps grow much needed organs". There was no need to revoke that funding when Obama said that he wanted to support "promising research of all kinds, including groundbreaking research to convert ordinary human cells into ones that resemble embryonic stem cells." Why would he revoke it? It is something all people from all faith and nonfaith can agree on! This doesn't make sense to me. The funding for that research makes the argument over embryonic stem cell research a "moot" point but he revoked it!
And once again, I would appreciate it if you would stop labeling me. I don't think that I have labeled you! I do not fit into some kind of slot of yours. Although, it may be easier for you to fit me into some negative, sour-tasting group, therefore making it easier to dimiss my opinion based on some pre-conceived notion that you know who I am. Fact of the matter is, I am not a liberal, a zealot, a fundamentalist, a republican, a conservative, a leftist, a rightist, a democrat nor am I bible-thumbing "my way or no way" intolerant red-neck! I am a passionate woman with strong beliefs in the God of the universe and the moral and ethical rightness of human life. But that was probably a waste of my time and effort, so just stick me into whatever mold makes you feel justified in dismissing me.
Kim, great blog as always. You are a smart lady and you are on the ball. Do not ever think that what you write or research is a waste of time/effort. Some understand the point. Keep it up Kim. You are the voice of "reason" and you cannot allow them to "win." Great info! Thanks.
Lady, calm down. You've said so yourself that your a christian. Who cares? Not me. And the article that you used is from a conservative web site. So what's that say? Maybe post articles from medical/scientific websites instead of biased area's of the Internet.
And if your going to study, research something, you don't just concentrate on one area. You have to look at the full picture. Otherwise, you end up with something that is lacking in truth. Like studying a Bible, do you just read one chapter, form your idea and ignore the rest? Nope. ya read the whole thing to get a deep understanding of the workings of God.
And the whole article you posted revokes itself. As I already pointed out.
I'm glad Obama lifted the ban! Unfortunately I am sad to see federal money be put towards it. Obama could just give every tax payer a $20,000 gift card to Ford to stimulate the economy and fix the auto industry. But I guess, as long as the government is spending. That's what it takes to get the economy going.
Thank you all for your comments. Have a great St. Patricks Day.
What has the Embryotic stemsell reasearch cured or contributed?
Hey censored, you of all people should never call someone out for using a website that supports an idea or thought. I've seen several liberal zealots using the most left wing articles they could find to support their narrow minded, shallow thought process. Keep up the good work Kim.
I see today someone at Notre Dame decided having the new messiah speak at their commencment exercise was a good idea. And here, as a Catholic, I thought that ND was the end all of schools for our fatih. And as a Catholic I thought the mere thought of ending a human life was one of the most atrocious things known to man. Funny how things change. My thoughts and beliefs, however, haven't. A life is a life is a life!! To end one in the name of science is exactly what the secular society we've become wants us to do. Give no thought that this "thing" we are destroying is a human in every sense of the word. The fact that life begins the moment that egg gets fertilized and the chemical reactions, the very beginnings of life, begin. Within days there is a heart beat, within weeks it can be seen for what it truly is....HUMAN. I know I'm gonna get FRIED by the left for my faith and my beliefs, But I don't care! People that beleive as I do have been persecuted for thousands of years and in a couple weeks there will be an anniversary of the death of the TRUE Messiah. There has only been one death that has truly assisted mankind. Don't let the theology of science blind people to the fact that murdering the innocent is still illegal.
By the way.....can you make my $20k gift card to Wal-Mart..I'd rather feed my family and help Kim stayed employed and keep Ken fed.
