  • Time will tell.

I'll be blunt, I'd be still more comfortable if the rural Democrats, NRA, and other groups wrested House judiciary from Conyers, or at least installed one of their own at chair of the constitutional law subcommittee. But I still think the leadership will either bottle up gun control or allow the opposition to gut it on the floor. They know why they lost in '94.

Carolyn McCarthy, by the way, is pretty much the anti-gun lobby's official congresswoman, and has been ever since she entered congress after her husband and son were gunned down on a commuter train. But I'm sure for her it's all about taking away the guns of rural Americans so they'll be defenseless against the coming dictatorship. Just like I'm sure impugning opponents' motives is the most constructive way of getting them to accept their approach to policy is wrong.

Oh, and then there's Dennis Kucinich. What's his success rate for getting ANY legislation passed? How's Bush's impeachment coming? I've long suspected the way Democrats kill one of their own initiatives is by letting their vegan, ex-homeless congressman get involved.

  • Mike:

Provide the proof/facts and it is still not good enough. Just because someone is not "good" at getting legislation passed does NOT mean it cannot happen. Follow the money. They are all crooks up there. Pretty sad that we allow it and it is thought of as okay. Tax payer money used to bail out industry with years and years of record profits and pay increases. It is criminal they got away with it and are not in jail and it is CRIMINAL that we, the people, ALLOW it. From my cold, dead, bloody hands...

Nice blog Mike B. No matter what "proof" you provide they still will never get it because there are a million excuses why people do what they do in the name of the "people." What a joke. Take care. Thank gosh this yahoo is not in this town. He would probably be one of the ECC's or something like that. What ever did happen to the guns that the ECC's purchased for themselves for no good reason but to waste money---OUR money? Who has custody of those guns now? Probably sold to a street gang for a loss.

Two sentences that wouldn't be hilarious IF they weren't in succession. When something DID happen, it's proof. When something COULD happen, it's conjecture.
