Mountain Home Menagerie 4-H Busy News

The Mountain Home Menagerie 4-H Club has been busy the past 2 months. Besides working on their projects, Victoria, Matthew, Kamille, and Hanna Bartlett have presented demonstrations on projects. Cassie Dearing is busy raising 3 new chickens. She bought 3 different kinds to a club meeting to show the club went on a field trip to Celebration Park south of Melba. On May 5, May is Archeology Month in Idaho. An archeologist was there demonstrating flint knapping. He showed different types of flint, had several frames of arrowheads, told how the ancient people made their bows, arrows, spears, knifes, and tools plus how they made their sap and hide glues. The club members got to use atl atls , hike on the petroglyph trails, chase lizards and cottontails, and hike across the old railroad bridge. The club, also, wrapped books for the public library in Grand View to pass out to the pre-k through 2nd grade students at Grand View Elementary school. Since 2012 is the 100th year of 4-H in Idaho our club thought it would be fun to have an ice cream celebration! Ice cream sandwiches and mini notes about 4-H were handed out to the students at Hacker Middle School on the afternoon of May 11. Thank you, Mrs. Cruser and staff, for letting us have this fun. Also, we would like to thank the other 4-H members from other clubs who assisted in passing out the ice cream. They are Mia Baxter, Kylee Durham Tucker, Mackenzie Sloan, Carmen Spencer, Tristen Stucky, Gage Wilson, and Gage's grandmother. Our club's next meeting will focus on finishing our demonstrations.
