Opal Geneva Nelson

Opal Geneva Nelson, age 98, of Mountain Home, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023. No services have been scheduled. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Opal was born in Black Oak, Arkansas on November 8, 1924, to Lucius Oden and Irene Hamilton. She was the second to the youngest of nine children. She was raised in Arkansas where she met James Nelson. They were married on May 27, 1940, and remained married until James’s death in 2003. Throughout her life Opal lived in Winslow, Arizona; Boise, Idaho; Irving, Texas; Allen, Texas; Hesperia, California; and finally Mountain Home where she lived for the last 2 years.

Opal enjoyed quilting, word puzzles, reading her bible and being with family. She led a long life and her belief in God kept her going through all the good times as well as the bad. She will be greatly missed.

Opal is survived by her sons Carl Nelson, Robert Nelson, Timothy Nelson all of Arizona, Vaughn Nelson of Oregon, and Edward Nelson of Tennessee; daughters Doris Klein of Washington, Carolyn Holtz of Idaho and Jeanette Moore of California; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

Opal is preceded in death by her Husband, daughter Maggie Maggio, son Michael Nelson and Grandson Adam Holtz and 8 siblings.
