Mountain Home Police respond to incident on SE Freedom Circle

UPDATED AUG. 30 - Charges against Hoover were ultimately dismissed.

June 15th, 2022 -Mountain Home, Ida.-- At approximately 5:00 P.M. the Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD) attempted to serve a protection order to a residence on SE Freedom Circle. The suspect, now confirmed as Nicholas Hoover, presented a handgun, pointed it at officers and then retreated into the home.

Officers secured the scene and activated the Regional Twin Falls SWAT team and they responded to the scene shortly after.

After successful negotiations, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Hoover surrendered and was taken into custody with an aggravated assault charge. There were no shots fired and minimal property damage to the home. A search warrant was secured on the residence and MHPD cleared the neighborhood shortly after.

Thank you to the residents of the area for their patience and understanding, as well as, Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, Elmore County Ambulance, the Mountain Home Fire Department, Elmore County Dispatch, and Twin Fall Regional SWAT team for assisting in the case.
