Karen Jane Seppa, 76 of Mountain Home, Idaho passed away at home on August 29, 2021. She was a super-star mother, loving Airmen’s wife, loyal friend, sweetest grandma, and supporter of many loved ones. Karen had Parkinsons and had suffered a serious stroke but she never let any of her health issues change her optimism and joy for life. Anyone that knew her loved her easy laugh and quiet support. She was stubborn and sweet and selfless and caring. Her empathy for others was beyond reproach.

Karen was born to Arthur and Fannie Haapoja in Wakefield, Michigan March 2, 1945 as the youngest of 13 children. She met her life time sweetheart in Wakefield High School and married David Seppa in October 1966. As they traveled around the country with the Air Force they added to their family Brenda, Brian, and Brigette and took them to Upper Heyford AFB England and then to their forever home town of Mountain Home. Karen and David put family first and loved with all of their hearts. Though Karen was known to many as a super-star mother she also had many other talents and passions. She loved to tat, crochet, knit, cake decorate, crossword puzzles, wood work and do anything crafty. She taught her son, Brian, how to use power tools. Some of her favorite days were Christmas and her children’s birthdays. She would go all out and surprise them with fully redecorated bedrooms, hand-made Barbie mansions, and a living room full of so many presents you couldn’t walk into it on Christmas morning. Karen supported her children at all of their events whether it was a sporting event, school event, or an art event.

After retiring, she spent most of her time supporting her grown children and grand children. Karen’s grandchildren Hanna, Jacob, and Ethan were very active with dance, cheerleading, soccer, and baseball and Karen would attend every event she could just like she did for her children. She loved being supportive and her family always knew she was there for them. Karen worked at the alteration shop and the junior high on the base, Herron Insurance, Century 21, Blue Note Cafe in town, and finally retired from Plexus in Boise. She made many friends at these jobs and was a very dedicated worker. When Parkinsons made it hard for her to walk without assistance, Sami Henretty, Kerstyn Waters, and Kanani Whitted came into the home and cared for her as if she were part of their family. They loved her and spoiled her and treated her with dignity and grace. Since Kerstyn was with her most every weekday they became quite the pair. They sang and danced and cried and laughed and shared countless precious moments. These ladies were such a real blessing to Karen and her family.

Karen was also well cared for by the First Choice Hospice team of Tiffany Mederios, Kathleen Kirchhofer Harrison, Carrie Jones and Chaplain Dale. Each and every one of them took the time to treat her with such loving care. Karen was in the best hands at all times.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband Dave and her daughter Brigette. Karen is survived by her daughter Brenda Raub and son Brian Seppa and his wife Jessica and their children Hanna, Jacob, and Ethan along with countless friends and loved ones.

To celebrate such a beautiful soul the family will host a celebration of life at Legacy Park in Mountain Home on September 19th at 4pm.

Karen was a supporter of the arts and would love donations to be considered to the Mountain Home Arts Council at PO Box 974, Mountain Home Idaho, 83647.
