M. Audrey McKinney, age 77 of Hammett, Idaho, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020. A celebration of life with her immediate family will be held at a later date. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Audrey was born on September 29, 1943 in Ontario, Virginia to John Hubert William Lail and Janie Price Lail. She was a loving and devoted wife of 58 years, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She loved to be around her family more than anything.

Audrey married Howard McKinney on December 23, 1961. In passing she was reunited with the love of her life in their eternal heavenly home. Audrey and Howard lived in Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina before retiring to Pine, Idaho in 1992 where they purchased Deer Creek Lodge on Anderson Ranch Reservoir. They made many friends and built many lasting relationships there. In 2002 they officially retired and moved to Hammett. Audrey attended AB Technical College in Asheville, North Carolina where she received an accounting degree. Prior to retirement Audrey received her pilot’s license and enjoyed flying small aircrafts when she wasn’t spending time with her family or traveling the country with her husband. She was a member of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots. She was a very accomplished businesswoman at Servomation Corporation. In retirement she enjoyed being around family and loved ones. Audrey was a very loving, caring, and generous person. She will be missed greatly by her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughters Debbie Ellis (Robbin) of Hammett, ID and Sheila Comer (Buddy) of Lyman, SC; grandchildren Nathan Owens (Johanna) of Hammett, ID; Anna Warden (Todd) of Travelers Rest, SC; Kathryn Jennings (CB) of Greenville, SC; Ashley Gibson (Chad) of Powdersville, SC; Michelle Garrett of Lyman, SC and great grandchildren Emily, William, McKayla and Kelsey Owens; Davis and Andrew Warden; Allie and Sophie Jennings; Kadyn, Lilly and Jaydn Gibson; and Kayleigh Payne. She is also survived by sisters Florene Arrington (Ricky) and Betty Dagenhart as well as many loving brother and sister in laws, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard McKinney; parents Hubert and Janie Lail; brothers Raymond Lail and Michael “Pat” Lail; and great grandson David “Logan” Warden.
