J.C. Short

J.C. Short, 83, of Mountain Home, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His upbeat personality and laugh will be especially remembered and missed by all who knew and worked with him. He had a beautiful smile and sparkle in his eyes that drew people to him.

He was born in Morrilton, Arkansas on October 31, 1936 to William Short and Laraine Wills Short. The family moved to Pomona, California where he lived and attended school. Following 2 years of high school, on May 23, 1955, J.C. joined the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an auto-pilot tech at Lincoln AFB Nebraska receiving an Honorable Discharge on January 22, 1959.

J.C. lived and worked in California until relocating to Mountain Home in 1993. He retired in 2015, at the age of 78, for the US Postal Service, Boise.

He was preceded in death by his mother Laraine Short, father William Short, son Jay Cee Short, sister Millie Short, step daughter in-law Joli Harding and step grandson Matthew Nixon.

J.C. is survived by his wife Theodora Short, Mountain Home, brother Mickey (Kathy) Short, Apple Valley, California, son Rick (Nevada) Short and daughter Terri Short of Paducah, Kentucky. Also survived by stepchildren Sylvia Nixon, Thomas Harding, 4 grandchildren, Elijah Nixon, Samantha (Dillon) Isaac, Raine, Rolf and Braydon Harding and one great-grand Brandi Harding.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, on September 10, 2020, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, in Boise. Please wear masks.

Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
