Chamber holds 75th Annual Installation Banquet

Wednesday, February 5, 2020

On Feb. 1, the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce celebrated the ‘Diamond Anniversary’ of the Installation Banquet with “A Night to Sparkle” theme. Throughout the evening attendees were able to bid on silent auction items and to buy cards that were drawn during the dinner service for a chance to win one of a number of prize baskets.

After an invocation led by Del Shaw, Mayor Rich Sykes presented the Mayor’s Citizen of the Year Award. This year’s winner was the very deserving Allen Niksich, who serves as the Military School Liaison Officer for the Mountain Home School District and Mountain Home Air Force Base. During the presentation Sykes said that when he asked the principals of the schools for a list of the things “Chief Nix” does for the schools he received “pages” in response. Some of the many things that Niksich does for our schools and community includes helping coordinate Mountain Home High School’s Veterans Day Assembly, school field trips to the State Veteran’s Home, volunteering in the schools himself, starting and organizing the Patriot’s Thunder Ride, which raises money for veterans each year, and helping coordinate Airmen volunteers for many school and community events including the recent building of Hacker Middle School’s first playground and judges for their yearly science fair which will take place Thursday, Feb. 6.For the full story, pick up a copy of the Mountain Home News or click on this link to subscribe to the newspaper's online edition.
