MHHS artists win big

Ashlyn Alexander, 3rd-place winner of the"Picture My Future" Art Contest! Ashlyn is an 11th-grade student at Mountain Home High School and won recognition for her beautiful piece portraying a future as a graphic designer/digital artist! Ashlyn used ink pens and alcohol markers to create her piece.

Two Mountain Home High School students recently received honors from the Idaho State Department of Education when they both placed in the agency’s “Picture My Future” Art competition. Exchange Student Yebom Yi took second place and Ashlyn Alexander took 3rd place in the state-wide contest.

State Superintendent Sherri Ybarra announced the winners on Jan. 23, and presented their artwork to legislators at her budget presentation. “The pictures they paint make me proud and eager to see the future they will make for us someday,” Supt Ybarra said, calling the students “bright, engaged, enthusiastic and motivated.”

The winning artwork is currently on display at the Idaho State Department of Education office and on their website.

Yebom Yi, 2nd-place winner of the "Picture My Future" Art Contest! Yebom is an 11th-grade student at Mountain Home High School and won recognition for her vivid watercolor accented with colored pencil portraying a student gazing at the night sky and picturing possible futures!
