Geri died December 5, 2019. From Council, Idaho, she was born March 10, 1925, to Vollie and Edith Zink. She graduated in 1942 and during WWII worked as a Rosie the Riveter at Gowen Field, and she also learned to fly at Floating Feather Air Field.

In 1946, she married Walter Eugene Covey. They were married for 55 years. Longtime residents of Mountain Home, they enjoyed dancing with the Sagebrush Shufflers and co-owned CHD Construction, for which Geri kept the books.

In 1964 she was employed as a cook at North Elementary. She eventually took over as the superintendent of food services for the Mountain Home School District. She was an amazing cook. Everyone loved to gather around her table and be in her kitchen.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, she will always be remembered for her patience, generosity and loving spirit. She appreciated the simple things in life and always had time for a visit. She wore a welcoming smile and put family first.

Geri was also a member of the Christian Baptist Church, where she found much comfort. She was preceded in death by Dorothy A. Brown (sister), Larry E. Covey (son), Walt E. Covey, and Mike J. Covey (grandson). She is survived by daughter Susan (Bill) Best; son Michael V. (Jolene) Covey, and daughter-in-law Sandy K. Covey; and including grandchildren Matt Covey, Pete Covey, Stephanie (Christian) Beauchamp, Lori (Kris) Bockting, Kate (Casey) Ashby, Amanda (AJ) Balderrama, Mike L. (Nichole) Covey; and great grandchildren Ava and Ayson Balderrama, Avery and Harper Ashby, Maddison, Ben, Liam, and Jillian Beauchamp, Liberty and Genevieve Bockting, Walter Allen Covey, and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
