School District implementing Tip Line and Panic Button system for additional safety

Friday, November 29, 2019

The doors of the school district offices were open to the public for its board meeting Tuesday, November 19th, 2019. Choir students practiced in the foyer as people filled the seats. Most board members were in attendance minus Kristina Knox: Chairperson, Eric Abrego; Vice-Chair Ralph Binion; Connie Donahue; Frank Monasterio and Superintendent James Gilbert. The evening started off with the pledge of allegiance and the choir singing the Star Spangled Banner.

Principal Lonnie Smith gave a report from Hacker Middle School about hard working teacher, Erica Smith, the “original Smith” at Hacker. Ms. Smith helped students create a council to provide leadership opportunities for their upper elementary students. Responsibilities of the student council include: choosing themes for spirit day; trash clean-up; and Rake-Up Mountain Home. Principal Smith read a letter of appreciation from one of the patrons whose yard the council raked. Ms. Smith was presented with a gift card for coffee from her school, and a certificate from Superintendent Gilbert.
