Letter to the Editor

Thank You for your support

Wednesday, November 6, 2019

Dear Community,

As we come to the close of Domestic Violence Awareness month, I would like to thank those who have supported the Elmore County Domestic Violence Council (ECDVC) this past year. Because of your continued support ECDVC has been able to assist men, women and children in Elmore County who were suffering from domestic and sexual abuse. Your generous donations have helped pay for emergency services, clothing, meals, transportation, diapers, medical care, crisis counseling and advocacy.

The ECDVC board of directors and their advocates have worked tirelessly to open the first domestic violence and sexual abuse shelter here in Elmore County. The Evans Harmony House is scheduled to start housing residents November 11th, 2019. The 6-bedroom facility will offer shelter, case management, crisis counseling, support groups, court advocacy, and transitional housing referrals through the Idaho Coalition on Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse (ICDVSA) as well as Idaho Legal Aid.

The ECDVC has recently expanded their Teen Outreach services by educating students at the Mountain Home High School about healthy relationships and to offer resources to individuals who may be experiencing teen dating violence. The curriculum is supported by ICDVSA and is being offered in other schools throughout the state of Idaho. Our victim advocates along with a youth led teen leadership group meet twice a month on Wednesdays during tiger time to help spread awareness. (For more information contact Hannah guyerh@ecdvc.org).

Again, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to this great community for all your support in helping us expand services and fulfill our mission.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Middleton

Executive Director
