Do you have a story about the memories passed down by your ancestors; experienced by you of your own life in Elmore County.

Mountain Home Historical Society wants to keep local stories and memories alive as a historical resource. The Museum has embarked on a program to collect the voices of history from all citizens of our great communities of Elmore County. The voice of history will be preserved. Your story will endure to enlighten and educate those who follow you

It is important to share people’s stories. History books cannot capture daily life of what it “felt” like to live and work in an area. They capture the facts but not the feelings. Every day we lose great stories of someone’s life every time we mourn their loss. Can you imagine hearing a recording of your grandparents or your great- great grandparents telling their life story?

So many of our young people have today, become more inquisitive about their heritage. You may not believe you have much of a story to tell but you might realize with the interview that you have much to contribute.

Please, share your historical memories, the community needs them, the Museum wants to preserve them.

If you would like to tell your story email: director@mountainhomemuseum.com. Or call (208) 687-6847. An appointment for a recorded interview will be scheduled at your convenience, in your home or at the Mountain Home Museum.

Some day you too will be an ancestor, like those before us, the history of which we owe to the future generations of our families and community.

We look forward to hearing from you sharing those great memories.
