On June 26, Betty Ashcraft, President of the Recreation Foundation of Elmore County and WECRD President Dan Gillies were presented a check by Mike Buckner on behalf of Walmart. The check, which was given to the foundation, is meant to help support the WECRD in the construction of its indoor pool facility.

According to their joint website “the Recreation Foundation of Elmore County Inc was founded in 2003 ‘to promote the construction and operation of the year-round family recreation and community activities facility to be located in Mountain Home, Idaho, by raising funds from individuals, corporations and foundations interested in supporting the same. Its purpose is to enhance the health, well-being and quality of life for all Greater Mountain Home individuals and families.’”

An aggressive fundraising campaign is needed to raise the estimated $1.6 million that would be needed to complete the first phase of the project.
