On April 15, Idaho's new governor came to Mountain Home for the first time since winning the election. Governor Brad Little came to speak at the monthly Mountain Home Chamber luncheon. There was a large turnout with members of the legislature, county officials, city officials and chamber members all in attendance.

The governor took the opportunity to speak about growth in Idaho and how it effects rural areas and Mountain Home.

"There's so much going on in Idaho right now," Governor Little said.

He went on to say that Idaho is the fastest growing state right now. He mentioned how for decades there has been a pattern of members of the Air Force being stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base and wanting to return on a later assignment or to retire.

The rapid growth is a strain on the infrastructure of the state. It has been a strain on roads and on the schools as the state and counties try to keep up with the need for growth.

Governor Little then reminded people that 10 years ago there were a 100,000 people out of work in the state.

"I like this problem much better," Governor Little said.
