Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) announced today that he has nominated 48 students from across the Gem State to the United States Military Academies for the 2019-2020 school year. The nominees will now be considered by each of the four academies for final selection.

“It is an honor to nominate such a remarkable group of students to our nation’s prestigious military academies,” Senator Risch said. “Each student has met the high standards required to attend these schools. I commend them for their desire to obtain a first-class education and serve our nation. They are each truly deserving of this honor.”

Students interested in applying to a U.S. service academy must submit an extensive application and commit to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. Those interested in applying for future nominations can find details on Senator Risch’s website or by contacting Frances Hasenoehrl at frances_hasenoehrl@risch.senate.gov.

Among the nominations was Caden Eschenbacher of Mountain Home, who is applying to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland.
