Bond reduced for Schossow

Friday, November 30, 2018

Gerry Schossow is facing charges of sexually exploitative material of a child, child enticement and providing shelter to a runaway.

At a hearing held on Nov. 13 the state requested for a continuance because the attorney assigned to the case was out of town for a family emergency. Public Defender, Terry Ratliff argued against the continuance saying that he was being charged with enticement for photos on a phone that wasn’t his.

Ratliff went on to argue that the texts were between the teenage girl, age 13, and her brother, not the defendant who is her father.

According to Ratliff in documents from the Iowa Department of Health and Welfare it was the child and the brother who had been exchanging exploitative material.

The state argued that they had probable cause in the case and that the defendant had made certain admissions about possessing the phone. For the full story, pick up a copy of the Mountain Home News or click on this link to subscribe to the newspaper's online edition.
