Jack Charles Bunton, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 in Boise. He was 77 years old. He will be inurned at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, at a later date. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Jack was born on April 12, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is the youngest son of Oliver Bunton and Virginia Slavich. His older, brother, Jerry, resides in Oklahoma.

In 1960, Jack enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country for 22 years. He was a member of the 1st Infantry Division and served as a supply specialist and recruiter during his two decades of service. In addition, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam and received numerous honors including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Jack also received the Vietnam Service Medal with 5 bronze stars, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and a host of other awards and honors.

Jack enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish. He was also a talented artist choosing to work with charcoal and colored pencils.

Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sook and their three children: Deborah (Kent) of Louisville, Kentucky, John and Charles of Henderson, Nevada. He is also survived by 2 granddaughters: Fallon Bunton and Katlyn Harbsmeier and his brother, Jerry Bunton of Wilburton, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Slavich, step-father, William Slavich and father, Oliver Bunton.
