Muriel L. French "Frenchie"

Muriel L. French “Frenchie”, 65, of Mountain Home, passed away at home on October 25, 2018. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Frenchie was the oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Hogan Senior High in Vallejo, California in 1972 and upon graduation enlisted in the US Air Force retiring 20 years later.

During her military career she went to Fairbanks, Galena and Shemya, Alaska, Holland and station at Mountain Home three times. Because she loved Idaho so much, she stayed.

When she wasn’t working you could find Frenchie in the hills, hunting, fishing or just watching animals. She loved learning behaviors of any animal. She could also fix just about anything and if not she would research it until she mastered it. After retirement Frenchie drove truck for Blue Collar Farms doing whatever was needed. At the time of her death she was caring for their beloved Charolais cattle helping with all their needs; feeding, taking care of the health needs and helping to birth the calves if needed. Frenchie had a couple calves that thought she was their mother since she had bottle fed them.

Frenchie also had a business for a while hauling horses from coast to coast. She loved animals of all kinds and would rather be outside with them than anything else.

Frenchie is survived by her mother Lorraine Staggs (John) Hanford, California, sisters Melinda Kean, Lemoore, California and Maggie Rouse (Jim), Meridian, brother Ernie, Lemoore, California, brother in-law Doug Horsfall (Sharon) Lake Villa, Illinois, nephews Chris (Val) Jason, Steve, Justin, Tony (Renee), 16 great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by lifelong friends Nancy Martin, Janell Oehlsen, Sue Stanek, Sid Wing and Bonnie. She was preceded in death by her father Ernest and sister Melody Horsfall.
