Jerlene (Jeri) T. Gross

August 11, 1923-September 19,2018

Jerlene was born on August 11, 1923 at the home of her maternal grandmother and delivered by her paternal grandmother. She attended and graduated from Oakdale Christian School (1st-12). When she was 9 years old, Edward Gross (then 13) said she was the girl he was going to marry. They wed in 1943 and were married 51 years. He was a career Army soldier serving in WWII and the Korean War. Jerlene and Edward lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Texas, Japan and Germany.

To this happy couple, four children were born. Johnie Edward Gross (deceased) Polly S. Sanders (Otho) of Idaho, Sharon P. Steger (John) of Ohio, and Marvin C. Gross (Patricia) of South Carolina.

Jerlene was an excellent seamstress and made numerous quilts. Gardening was a love of hers. She was the owner of many collections: rolling pins, irons, antique dishes, items with African Violets, decorative mules and donkeys, clothes, jewelry and items from her Cincinnati reds and favorite player, Johnny Cueto.

She was an active volunteer at the Salvation Army, nursing homes and senior centers until recently.

Jerlene is survived by children Polly, Sharon and Marvin. Grandchildren David Grindle, Stephanie Hoepner, John R. Steger, Joshua Gross, Kelsey Gross, and 13 great grandchildren.

She was greatly respected, loved and embraced.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Congregational Church in Mountain Home. An interment with take place in South Lebanon, OH on October 6, 2018.
